I'm having trouble using the direct tune feature to select channels on Polk Sirius tuner.

There is a discrete button to bring up the Durect Tune mode and then I transmit the channel number but the tuner does not accept the numbers. It all works OK if I just send the Direct Tune code and then enter the numbers manually but I want to automate the process to select various preset channels from the remote.

Workaround is setting channels in tuner presets and then calling the preset numbers from the remote. A couple of problems with this..the number of presets is limited to ten. There are three bands of presets of ten each available but you have to toggle through the different bands and I can't figure out how to automate this. Secondaly, if you press the preset button too long it actually saves the current channel into that preset.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Try adding a delay after each command for the Direct tune issue and experiment with how long the delay is. That should get it to work.

For using presets, if discrete codes for each band of presets are available, you can use those as well.
All high's, all low's, it must be.......

I've tried that with delays from 0.1 to 3.0 sec and it still doesn't work. It seems like input is locked out after it sends the Direct Tune command. Oddly, the same combination works just fine when using the tuner's native remote.

I wish there were descrete band selction codes, but unfortunately not..it's a toggle between three bands.

Thanks for your suggestion, though.

how did you obtain the codes?  If you learned them from the original remote, then that is most likely your issue.  This unit uses toggle bit codes, which are a pain to learn if you don't have the right learner.  Use the database codes if you arent already doing so.  Setup number 830

All the IR codes are from the MX-950 software database.

I think there's something funky with the Direct Tune code because after that code is sent in the macro, the tuner brings up the direct tune input screen but does not accept any input from the macro nor manually from the keypad.
But..if I push the key that I've programmed with the Direct Tune code (not a macro) and then input channel numbers from the keypad it works. There must be something inherent in the macro that prevents the number codes from being sent. And like I said before, I've tried all manner of dealys from very short to 3 seconds and that doesn't work either.

I'm okay with calling presets except for the chance that the user will push the button too long and change the stored preset.

The codes I have seen for this are not RCx (Toggle Codes), they are NEC1 Protocol so Codes alternating should not be a problem (unless the codes in the Mega 18 List are wrong).

In the manual it does not say anything about a "Direct Tune" Button nor does the original remote have this...or does it?

To Direct Tune the manual states to enter three digits e.g. 0, 0, 7 and then press Enter. Is this how your Macro is structured?

Cheers

yeah, I went back in my notes and was confusing this unit with an XM commander unit that uses toggle bits.  sorry :(

You're right about the manual not saying anything about a Direct Tune button and the unit's remote does not have one either. To access the direct tune screen on the original remote you push the select button. I found this by trial and error. You have to send a direct tune command or the tuner takes any numerical input as a preset number call. There is a Direct Tune code in the IR database and it works just like the Select button in that it brings up the direct tune input screen on the tuner.

My macro has all the commands that in theory should work..Direct Tune, channel numbers, Enter.

What happens is that the macro brings up the direct tune input screen but then the tuner does not accept any of the numeric input. Howver, if I do the steps manually (I programmed the +10 key with the Direct Tune command) it works fine.

Thanks for all your input. I'm not a prfessional installer, but I did do a lot of AMX control system programming in my previous job so I consider myself a fairly knowledgeable amateur.
