Hello everyone,

I just got a MX-900 about a week ago and I absolutely love it, but the batteries went dead on me tonight. I have heard of short battery life but this is ridiculous. I have the backlighting set to 10 seconds and it is set to almost full brightness. Could this be the problem sucking up all of the life?

Also, can rechargeable batteries be used in this remote, and if so, what type?

And one other thing...I am considering buying a MX-950. Can I directly import the entire .MXG from the 900 (compatible file format) or will I have to reprogram from scratch?

Thanks!

I seem to get about 3 months with alkalines in my 900. My settings are similar to yours.

I always install new batteries after I program a remote for a client just in case they weren't fresh and the programing took its toll on the supplied batteries.

Rechargables won't last quite as long between charges since they don't charge to as high of voltage.

You can import devices from a 900 to a 950 but will have to do quite a bit of programing to the lay out on the 950 since it is more robust and offers more than 6 selections on a page.

I do love the fact that my 950 is rechargible.

It also allows you to do more customizing for a large system. They both have there place. Thats why I have both of them!

The 900 will fulfill the needs of most people. The 950 adds enough ability to cover the rest of us with room left for more.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

I use NIMH AAA batteries in my MX-850's and MX-800's. They work great and last for a few months. Some of the ones I use are 1000mAH, which is pretty good for AAA's.

I don't own a MX-900, but if I did I sure wouldn't be wasting alkalines in it.

Personally, I like the fact that the remotes don't need to be plugged in to a charger.

Thanks, guys, I really appreciate the help! Since I need a second remote anyway I will probably try out the 950 since I am so happy with the 900, but I will also get some NimH rechargeables for my 900 as well.

I've had my MX-900 for about 8 months now and haven't yet had to replace the batteries (I put in fresh Duracells from the start). It gets plenty of daily use by me and my four kids.
