I admit I've been slow to adopt CCP. First class I took when it was discussed, I downloaded it and upon running it, my laptop crashed twice. OK, I think I'll get to know this some other time.

Always used standalone editors for 850, 900, even 980.

I wanted to knock out a quick 900 yesterday and all the devices responded fine. Once I built and ran macros, they would take 30 seconds to execute - should have taken about 5. Tried downloading a blank program into the remote to reset, then built a blank template into a 2 device remote, just TV & cable. They did the same thing as soon as a macro had two commands. Once command was fine. Add a second command and mush.

Today I finally had to open CCP and convert the existing full file that was done yesterday. Saved it, immediately downloaded it to the remote and it worked fine. Delivered to client today; added one learned command and it's fine.

I guess I need some electronic lube for my broke standalone editor. Or pretend I can do a remote as quickly in CCP as with standalone. I don't fall for pretty faces that easily, as you can tell.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

the newer remotes are loaded with a firmware that only works with CCP. You have perform some kind of reset on the remote to work with the old software. I was on a site with no internet a month or two ago (and no CCP) and when I connected my the 880 editor wouldnt even let me load it. A call to tech support had me do the reset.

I've switched from the standalone to CCP a long time ago. Even though I did use the standalone editor for my first couple 980's.

Now, I prefer how CCP works. Once you get used to the "slightly" different layout, CCP is just as easy if not a little easier to program.

The only electronic lube I know of working is the "warming" kind. YMMV =)

I have been using MX900 editor and just switched to CCP. I like it better, although there is one thing missing: the little transport arrows (up, down, left, and right) are no longer available for the soft buttons.

Also, I just got a new MX900 and it came with S/W 2.01. After programing it with an updated version of CCP, it was down to S/W 1.62. I called URC to ask about that. The tech support guy was stunning in his lack of knowledge.

If you have programmed any MX-880, 900 etc. with CCP and want or need to go back to a standalone editor, the procedure mentioned above is to put the remote into "boot loader" mode as follows:

1. Remove either the single rechargeable or one AAA battery from your remote control.
2. Press and hold the “POWER ON” button and “MUTE” button at the same time.
3. Insert the battery. The remote control will power up.
4. Release the buttons. The remote will display a messge on the Universal Remote Control screen, “Unable to find system files. Please download using PC software.”
5. Connect the remote to the PC and download from the standard editor.

I have the standalone MX-900 editor, when I received a new remote from URC they loaded it with the "new" 2.01 firmware that only works with CCP.

The above fix did not allow me to upload my program.

In fact to get the old remote (firmware 1.57) to connect I had to uninstall the USB driver and then reconnect the old remote. If I did not do this I would get a "cannot connect sc-1" error.

Anyone have any other suggestions, can I roll back the firmware on my remote?
