I'm new to the programming world of universal remotes. I am trying to figure out how to select the correct input on my Samsung HL-R6178W. The TV's remote has a "Source" button that switches the inputs. I am using HDMI 1 for my satellite box, HDMI 2 for my DVD, Component 1 for my cable box. The TV remains in the current input mode when I turn it off. When I turn it on, I have to push the source button any number of times to get to the desired input. Is there any way to switch to a specific input on this TV? Another thing...if one of the devices connected to an HDMI input is off, the source button skips over that input. This eliminates a fixed number of button pushes to get to a specific input. Also if there is nothing connected to an input, it is skipped over as well.

Add another source button on the remote. Go to the IR library and select the Discrete code file. In there you will need to test the other code to see which one will work for your TV. Also you can try other files in the Samsung IR Code area to see if some of the discretes will work for you.

In the IR database, there is a setting for "Samsung Discretes 2006". I dragged & dropped the specific inputs (S-Vid1, Component 1, etc . . ) to the remote. They worked perfectly on my HL-S6187W.
