I am puttin 3 TV's in the same room. Two of them (yet to be purchased) are 32" LCd's (considering Toshiba's w/ discrete's). The third will be a FUji or different manufacturer. How can I change the volume and inputs with one or even two remotes? I am considering an Mx 850. Os there something I can add? Can one be sent in IR and the other in RF? I do not mind spending some money, but don't want a crazy Crestron type system. Maybe an Mx 850 and one of the new "400" units I have heard about. Any ideas?

an 850 w/mrf300 will do it. you need to have a ir flasher to each tv with ir on the remote turned off. have the remote route the signal via the ir routing feature of hte 300. ie let tv1 be emitter 1, tv 2 emitter 2 and so on. will work like a million bucks only cost less. The mrf400 might just be a worthy upgrade if it's in the budget.

you'll also be able to control identical cable boxes too.

Get an MRF-300 to go with your MX-850. Using the MRF-300 you can put an emitter on each tv and send the commands for that tv to only the right tv. Set the left tv to port 1 and the right tv to port 2. When you select TV1 (left) the commands for that tv will be sent RF to the MRF-300 and the 300 will then send the tv commands only out port 1 and to the right tv. Same for the right tv, it will also send commands RF to the MRF-300 which will then be sent out port 2.

The MSC-400 is a great choice if you want to spend the money. It seems like a little more than you need for that application, but there is nothing like being ready for the future right? I love the MSC-400 they work great and are worth the money if you're a "power user" you will really apppreciate it.

If you really like toys you may consider the MX-3000. We use the 3000 in systems where there are many multiple devices so it is easy to customize and make it intuitive so anyone can pick it up and use it.

Just to add to the above:

Dont get the Toshiba..... They lack dicrete Power commands and would throw a loop into the equation.

Make sure you Disable IR for both TV's in the editor software.

One thing though you must turn the MRF to postion #1-9 on the bottom. If you dont do this the base will still Blast the Ir to all locations. It tells you all about this in the manual that comes with it.
Also I strongly suggest stepping up to a mx900,950,1000, or 3000...As the 850 and below are soon to be gone and are not compatible with the new Mrf350, and Msc400.

The MRF needs to be on an ID other than "0" to enable individual IR routing. On "0", all emitters receive any command from the remote. The 850's not going anywhere for awhile and it will work with an MRF-350, it's just that the narrow band RF of the other remotes above it will give you better reliability of RF performance.

Saw this thread and purchased the mx-350 and the mrf-250.
Set the 250 on channel 2 and have 4 emitters.
Set the 4 SAT devices in the 350 to channel 2 and to transmit RF only and to only emit 1,2,3,4 respectively.
I get no blinking on the status light of the 250 when pressing buttons on the 350.
When I switch the base (250) to channel 0, I do get blinking lights but, as stated, all emitters work and I don't want that.
What am I doing wrong here?
Want to control 4 SAT boxes...

Thanks

I would try another ID and/or make sure that the indicator on the MRF is really on the ID you've assigned in the remote (ie: "2"). The MRF rotary switch can be a little imprecise.

I will try the other ID - thanks...

On a side note...
I am trying to control 4 identical Sat boxes using the 350/250 combo as mentioned above. The remote comes pre-set with TV, Cable, DVD, VCR, etc devices and associated menus.

So I programmed the TV button, from the SAT table, using code 173.
Did the same for Cable, DVD, and VCR - all from the SAT table, all code 173.
I plan to rename the buttons from TV, Cable, DVD, VCR to SAT1, SAT2, etc.
But when I press the TV button I get 'Sleep', 'Closed Caption', etc. - all items from a TV setup not a Sat setup.

I thought if I chose the SAT table and a SAT code I would get SAT command menus for that button...?

Nope, if you had the mx-650, the labels would change with code.

"Set the 4 SAT devices in the 350 to channel 2"
"Set the 250 on channel 2"

Would a pro know there's no software involved here?

Reset the 350 back to factory settings and reprogrammed from scratch to channel 2 as suggested. That worked - THANKS. All 4 SAT boxes can be controlled independently.

New problem - The emitters on the MRF-250 appear to be too strong. When I use IR signals from the remote, the SAT boxes can be controlled just fine. When I use the emitters from the 250, the response is very inconsistant.

Thinking of purchasing the MRF-300 instead. Suggestions?
