I have been selling and programing urc for many years. Started with the old reliable mx500/600 moved up to the mx700/800 than the mx850 which i still love. Now I almost always sell the mx900/mrf350's... bullet proof... I just wish the mx900 had an option to activate the light when tilted or a button is pressed. Anyway, the reason for this thread, I have mastered the programing of these remotes. I am not the best on a computer. How much more knowledge do I need on the computer to program the mx3000? I want to be able to offer my clients a nice touchscreen... thanks..

I would suggest registering for one of URC's trainings at Orlando EHX 2007. It is the first weekend in March.

URC has an MX-3000 speed programming course on their dealer website that you can log onto and take at your own pace whenever you have some time. Look at all the MX-3000 remotes shown here on Remote Central to get some ideas. Buy one and start working with it for your own system. Refine the programming until you can hand it to a friend and they can operate the system without any additional instruction. You can even have a set of instructions on the remote and a button labeled, "review how to use", so baby sitters can operate the system easily.

If a client can't use the remote, it doesn't matter how fancy it is. It's worthless.
First, make it simple, intuitive, and bullet proof. If it is so easy your client can hand it to his neighbor and the neighbor can control the whole system the first time he sees it, your phone may ring more often.

That’s my opinion, and I’m sticking to it.

Have fun

I must be a near GENIUS. All my teachers told me I was at the very PEAK of the bell curve!

Hi Folks,

I see the introduction lesson and MX850 programming, but not the MX-3000. I'm I looking in the wrong place?

Thanks

I'm not a pro, but I think programming the 3000 is much simpler than the 950. Seems to be more straightforward in my opionion.... SJ

The MX3000 can be quick and simple but not when you get to customizing it. I have programmed a ton of 850/900/950's but only one MX3000 , my own. I haven't done too much with computers either as mentioned above. Now with all those galleries and templetes URC offers makes it soo much easier to do exactly whatever you can imagine. I'm not much with graphics on computers either but I could see integrating some of a clients home photos as background images on some different devices. Its easy enough to do.
