Is it losing the codes resident in the MX450 from the factory, or losing learned codes?

Resident codes. I need discreet on/off. It'll work for a while then wont at all so I take the code out then put it back in and then it'll work for some unknown length of time. Its not interference b/c its IR and its a direct shot to it no more than 6 ft away. It also did it to me on the new MX-890
hey! it works!
