Hi there,

I have both a MX-880 and 2 MX-450's. I am using them in the UK trying to control a Sky+HD box. I've set the MX-880 up to control Satellite:Sky:Sky+HD and then used that same code number on the MX-450's.

This does not work, and does not control the Sky+HD box at all. I'm not keen on learning all the buttons on all 3 remotes. Could anyone from URC perhaps comment on why the standard Sky+HD codes aren't working ?

I'd like to get this going, so i can also get the RF working on my MX-350 with them. My Sky+HD box is the Samsung variant.

Thanks,
Roy.

HI there,

I've now tried all the codes underneath the Sky Satellite option and it seems that SkyHD (204) works fine. Sky+HD (230) does not work at all on my Samsung Sky+HD box.

Cheers,
Roy.

Ok, I now find that the Up, Down, and Number keys all enter 3 times. Making it very difficult to control.

Would really appreciate some advice on the correct codes to use for my Samsung Sky+HD box.

I cannot believe that URC do not have this, as it will be one of the largest boxes in the UK ?

well you found the correct set of commands, sadly the cursor buttons need to be learnt because as you've found out they repeat, making navigation a pain in the arse. i suppose someone could send in the clean Hex codes to URC for the next release.....
these are generated clean codes from Makehex if you want to try them:

Thanks for these. Not having done a hex input before, would you be able to perhaps assist on how I get these into the MX-880 editor ?

How do I let URC know that their codes for the Sky satellite box (the largest sat box in the UK) are wrong ?

I've got 2 MX-450's as well and know will have to go learn on them also. Sheesh.

Roy.

Assuming it's the same principle as the 850 and the 900 I copied this from a similar thread:
However, to use hex, you must open the Universal Browser, copy/paste the hex code in the hex window, then drag the command to whatever button you choose. Consult the programming manual (which can be downloaded from the "Files" section of this website) for more details.
Hope this helps

Any feedback from anyone in URC on getting these codes fixed in the databases ?

Thanks,
Roy.

roy, do the codes i posted above work for you?
also i've found that the 'record' and 'fast forward' don't work and have to be learnt in. i'll try and post the clean generated codes later for these functions.

Yes they do.

As well as the record, fast forward, all the number buttons do triple entry as well. I was hoping that URC may want to get these correct and then update the IR database, particularly as in the UK it is such a widely used box.

It would ultimately be better if they were to update the IR database and then it would save all the hassle of these learned codes. Remember, I also need to now go and learn every button on my 2 MX-450's as well.

I do know we're looking into this. Some boxes handle their IR codes in weird ways that make it very hard for learning remotes to reproduce them. This is one of those boxes. I'm not in engineering, so I have no timeline or details, but I do know the team is exploring options on this.

Best regards,
Dale

You will also want to learn the yellow button, as otherwise you risk deleting 2 programs when you only want one.

The codes kindly posted by makitamark above still result in double presses on my MX810. To avoid problems I have had to learn very short presses, and I have used the skip +/- buttons for repeating cursor left/right presses.

There are other problems too, such as not being able to keep the play button pressed for slow motion.

It is disappointing that the premium UK HD product can not be easily controlled by URC remotes, so I hope that a fix can be found.

could this be an issue of 'repeats' ?
i've only recently 'found' this functionality on URC remotes.
if you highlight a particular button then click on 'ir data' you can search for the brand and model then cycle thru the ir commands, what you notice is that ALL the codes in the database have the 'repeat' set to 3!
i don't have access to a URC remote just now but perhaps someone that does could delete a command from say the 'cursor up' button then use the 'ir data' method of replacing the command from URC's database but reduce the 'repeat' to 1.
incidentaly the factory codes for 'record' and 'fast forward' simply do not work on the remotes i have programmed.

Dale,

Would it be possible to either put me in touch with the guys working on this, or to ask them if they would be able to provide and update on this ?

I'm in the position where I have 3 URC remotes that I need to setup for my Sky+HD box and I'm loath to begin learning every button press on all three if I can avoid it.

Thanks,
Roy.

Roy, it's only going to take you 10 minutes per remote surely, the final fix may take weeks.
as Nike say: "just do it"
