I have a customers MX 900 and any time I try to upload athe program changes it gives me this error message. I have tried 3 different cables (all work with his MX 980). I have tried reinstalling the editor and nothing seems to work. Any ideas? ( my idea is it is broken but he wants none of that)

Try replacing the batteries or disabling any bluetooth devices on your system.

Daniel is right, but more specifically to the problem, this is caused by a conflict with bluetooth devices (i.e keyboard, mouse). Disable the bluetooth and use a plug in or RF keyb/mouse and you will be able to sync. Painfully annoying.
URC should address this issue, I know I have called and told them. Thankfully, alot of us have laptops in the field, but nonetheless, a very annoying problem.

It's a bizarre conflict, really. Anyone figured out WHY it happens?

I am having the same problem, my desktop is running XP Pro without any bluetooth devices and the laptop is running Vista with bluetooh disabled. I had no problem originally programming remotes but now I keep getting the SC-1 error.

You have something conflicting (probably via USB) with the remote. Try to use process of elimination and keep things as lean as possible, then add back devices one by one until you get the error again.

I am having the same problem but am working on a laptop with no other devices connected, fresh batteries and have tried to reinstall the MX-900 editor. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks

Process of elimination by eliminating USB drivers that are installed on your system. It's a dangerous and tedious process, but I was able to figure out my headset USB driver was creating a conflict with the MX software. Once I removed that driver it worked fine. Try to elimnate drivers in time order. Try to reinstall the software over again as wel.

I can confirm that as of today 1/31/15 the bluetooth issue still exists...I disabled my bluetooth adapter and it immediately allowed me to sync the MX900. Can't believe its been this many years and they still haven't addressed that bug...
