39 cent - to clarify, I bought it on eBay. A local authorized dealer programmed it for me. The local authorized dealer has gone out of business. universalremote.com doesn't have a "local" (within an hour) dealer. I'd gladly pay for the service, can't seem to find it around here.

I've downloaded the software, and made a second copy, but I know I'm doing something incorrect, as I can't figure the way to program the new DVD code in - is there a "learning" function on these remotes, so they take in the code from the DVD players remote?

Yes there is. In the learning mode, select a key in the software, and shoot the factory remote corresponding key into the top of the URC (unless it's a MX3000, then you shoot the bottom).

As Joe said.. Select the DVD player then select a button then select Learn and press (i usually do a quick tap rather than follow the 'press and hold' advice) the button on the DVD player remote you want to 'teach' to the MX-850.

You should put both remotes on a table in front of you about 3 inches apart from each other. It will be easier to do than to try and hold one or both in your hands. I dont have an 850 with me or i would give more details about the process. Basically you will get some sort of "good" or "OK" message if the command is learned properly.

What DVD player? Make and model. You may not have to learn a new remote. Many similar models will use the same code set.

So if you have like Sony DVD-123 and theres a Sony DVD-124 you might get lucky.

Brand new on here. Purchased a MX 900. Downloaded the softward based on my serial number. I have a Hitachi UT42X902 LCD TV, a Hitachi AVC08U Audio Video Center, and a LG BD390 Blu Ray player. I can not find any of this equipment in the IR database. The software I have is firmware 1.57 and IR DB 1.83.

Is this the latest software?

If so, my equipment is not that new so why is it not listed?

Lastly, under what type of equipment would I set-up the Hitachi AVc08U Audio Vide Center?

Appreciate the help!

THanks

Steve

That's simple to answer, even though URC has one of the most extensive IR databases, they can't possibly have the exact model of evey item out there listed, there are just too many.

Look for something close, it should work just fine. Otherwise, just learn the codes in with the learning feature of the remote.
