Does anyone have the codes for Oppo's latest DVD player? I'm looking for a configuration file with the Power On/Off discrete codes. The only way Oppo says to program the discrete codes is by hex value so I was hoping someone out there either had a file with the codes or could use a Pronto and program the discrete codes and then use the UMR to learn the code. Either way...any help is appreciated.

Why don't you just do this?

ON=

power
delay
play

OFF=

play
delay
power

(play will turn it on)

That doesn't make any sense to me. I want to have power on/off as separate commands so when I switch to satellite I can turn off everything except what I need to watch satellite...and the same for DVD, etc.

Why not make your "seperate command" a macro of th steps I described? It will serve as a discrete power off and on in ase that DVD player does not have discrete on and off codes.

Post the Hex so we can see it. Perhaps someone can convert it.
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

Q: Does the OPPO DV-981HD support discrete on/off remote codes so that I can use my universal remote control to turn on/off all my AV equipments at once?
A: Yes. The DV-981HD supports discrete on/off remote codes. The remote control IR protocol is NEC1. The device code 0x49B6. The discrete ON command code is 0x5A, and the discrete OFF command code is 0x5B.

For Philips Pronto users, the built-in HEX codes for discrete on/off are:

Discrete ON: 900A 006D 0000 0001 49B6 5AA5
Discrete OFF: 900A 006D 0000 0001 49B6 5BA4

For JP1 remote users, the discrete on/off codes are:

Discrete ON: NEC1, device #73, OBC 90
Discrete OFF: NEC1, device #73, OBC 91

Before you reposted the above, I had already answered your previous post of the same at
[Link: remotecentral.com]

But if you need more help on the MakeHex to IrPanels to Universal Browser process, this forum may be a better place to continue than the Discrete forum.

I was unsure because both forums seems to make sense since it deals with an MX-900 and discrete codes.

The 981HD uses the same discretes as the 970HD. I made a Pronto CCF with discretes during my beta testing of the 981HD which you can download here.

I downloaded that file and I will try it tonight. Right off the bat I notice that there isn't an "HDMI" button like there is on the 981 remote.

I looked at a few sources for Oppo DVD info. It appears to be pretty much identical across several models.

It appears that function number 21 is the HDMI button, but most online files give function 21 other names, such as "note key". I don't know whether that means the meaning of function 21 actually varies by model or whether it just means the names people use to describe that function vary.

One of the JP1 upgrades for the DV-970HD lists the following commands that are not in the original remote:

90 ---> discrete on
91 ---> discrete off
129 --> pause/step
108 --> sound field
104 --> equalizer
111 --> multi-channel downmix
105 --> dd dual mono

The author of that wrote the following for how to ask him about it:

I should have mentioned that the file is just for the On/Off discretes. You can use the 971 commands in the IR database for everything else except the codes John listed above.

Hi Mike,

I just bought the OPPO DV-981HD (from Surf, by the way). I have the URC MX-850 remote (also from Surf). How do I physically get the discreet on/off code into my MX files? This is the area that confuses me. Thanks/Greg

Use the "Universal Browser" feature to open the CCF file I linked to above. Then, drag and drop the commands from there.

On my pc, I have .ccf file extensions associated with Mx Editor. When I click on the above link, Mx Editor opens, but then I get an error message saying "unable to open file". You mentioned "Universal Browser"; is this what I'm missing? I'm not sure what Universal Browser is....
