Well, there is a new CCP update which includes the MSC-400. However

1. A large amount of the Yamaha serial codes are all wrong (despite URC knowing about this way back) - using "\\" instead of "\" - quick and easy fix
2. Don't run the MX-6000 emulator if you have smart macros - it hangs and taskmanager is the only way to kill it - this happens pre-update too
3. The 'info' button on the emulator still says 'last' - different model??

I guess they're 'working on it' and we'll see the update in 3 months...

I'm waiting for them to add the ability to double click on an alias in a macro and be able to change it like you could in the MX-980 standalone software! Big time saver!

Agreed on that - aliases are a right pain without that ability. At least they added the ability to change the initial state of a variable.

My 6000 emulator hangs every time I try and run it. It has since day one. You said in an earlier post your emulator was working. Did it just quit working when you programmed smart macros?? Really trying to understand why mine won't run.

Running Windows XPSP3 and with a CCP file for the MX-6000 it loads fine. When I select a button with a smart macro (e.g. satellite channel icon), the 'transmit' icon on the emulator screen comes on and stays on (i.e. stuck). That's where it hangs. I have had an instance where it would fail/crash on startup. From memory, this was after a previous hang. Corrected by saving the file again and restarting CCP. Have you tried a fresh install?

There are plenty of other problems that make life more difficult than it should be. Aliases (as pointed out by KVH) and their naming (how do you know which button is being aliased?), the 'move to front' does not move in front of persistent buttons (maybe some logic to this, but what about a persistent button on top of a persistent button?).
MSC-400 integration - does not import all the Smart Macro groups from a .msf file. All these have to be recreated. Fairly big oversight in my book.

I'm sure there are more, but so far that's what I've found (without looking too hard)

blakrj...

I'm just being curious, but have you anything nice to say about URC and/or their product...lol.

I don't ever recall reading a positive post from you about URC. Not saying it hasn't happened, I've just never seen it.

Well, I have recommended their units to quite a few colleagues & friends and purchased a number of their products over the years. That in itself is a huge positive and has directly contributed to their bottom line. Is it an AMX or Crestron - no. Will it ever be - no

This thread is not meant as a negative, but me raising issues with bugs/defects (I don't have the benefit of being able to raise this on URC's control room - guess I could keep going back to my dealer to report all these bugs/defects). I'm more than happy for someone to point out that they aren't and its just me if that is the case.
The fact of the matter is that people should know what they are getting (warts and all). Maybe I'm setting the bar too high (but URC is the one who claimed they are 'a world leader'). Suggest they be held to live up to that claim, or remove it. Perhaps it is my training and background. Maybe I should write a comprehensive review and put the good in with the bad. To finish on a positive, I like the products, continue to recommend them and appreciate the functionality.

Cool..., and to be clear, I wasn't trying to push any buttons.

I honestly was just getting the "I'm bitter because I spent my money on URC and I'm going to use RC to vent" vibe from you.

No offense taken. I've had access to all the software since 2005 and never had a problem with the LiveUpdate (thanks to some great dealers). I've coded remotes for others at no cost (sorry CI's, but then again they aren't always in places where I've been) and tried to help others where I can. Perhaps I should just start a thread entitled "Bugs/Defects" and state them all to remove any subjective interpretation. Maybe a Wiki along the lines of the Garmin Colorado/Oregon is in order....now you've got me thinking...[edit: done. Wiki started]

Running Vista SP1 and have tried a fresh install. Will just do without the emulator but thanks for the suggestions. Look forward to your Wiki site
discussions.

The nature of message boards is generally to search for solutions or complain about limitations. That just goes with the territory.

Since this was posted, items (1) & (3) have still not been fixed.....guess focus is on the MX5000 instead
