I tried to use these in CCP but they don't seem to be recognized. Anyone successfully made them work?

If you want these in the CCP you can get them in like this:

Go to "Configure Home"
Add a new mx-980 to your project
In the option box in the bottom right of the dialog that pops up select "existing"
Click "browse" and where it says "files of type" select "MX-980 Files (*.rcf)"
Now you should be able to select the file you downloaded.

OK, you nailed it. That brought it into an existing file as an MX980 remote. So... to use the logos, click on the MX980 that I just imported, go down the tree, find my logo, copy. Click on the MX980 that I am programming, find my place on the tree view and paste the logo. Pretty slow!

How do I make that a standalone file that will show up in the gallery???

Is there any way to make a file a *.vfd file like the CCP "Music Choice and Genres", but with expanded music choice offerings? I can only make a vfd file that imports into CCF as another MX980. Therefore I can't go to the gallery to drag logos, but have to keep cutting and pasting from one MX980 to another. Bad/slow/annoying/etc.

I agree. I am still programming in the Editor because of this. Also, in MX980 CCP, they do not have the device icons such as (DIRECTV, DISHNETWORK etc.).

I do not understand how URC wants us to switch to there new software when it is not complete..

You will get to a certain point where the firmware on newer 980s won't let you use the standalone editor (without a workaround).

I'm liking the CCP alright, but like you say, URC,why leave these holes in it if you want us to switch to it??

If we could have found every hole by now we'd have plugged them. We've intentionally dragged out the retirement of the stand alone editors until we see that CCP does everything (and often more) than what it replaces.
At this point, anyone who visits this site or IP or our Control Room should know that the future is in CCP. While I'd like the software to be perfect there will always be something to tweak--even Microsoft and Apple have had software issues, and they have way more pocket protectors than we do...

Jeff, the Music Choice icons already exist in the standalone editor. Can't that small collection be compiled in a *.vfd file that could be dropped into the images directory of CCP???? Wouldn't require a full change to CCP...

and in Feb. Directv is switching from XM/SIRIUS to another company..

lots of $$ available to reprogram remotes, but no icons...

Jeff, i agree about small bugs, but channel icons are a big selling feature.
especially for music channels....Also in the editor we can use brand names for devices, such as (DIRECTV).. this is not in the ccp..

still love the product, just need to improve a few things..

Old thread, Yes, but after years I finally made an updated vfd file to be used in the directly by the CCP program. I submitted the file to RemoteCentral, so whenever they get around to uploading it.

If you are impatient, you can visit my site directly and download it. I will at least, maybe, keep it updated directly on my site.

I also have an updated vfd for newer TV Channels that aren't in CCP's collection of network logos.  I may update this from time to time.  Shoot me a PM with requests and I may get to them if I have time.
