As there seems to be no clear way to report & address defects/bugs/enhancement requests in URC software, thought it might be a good idea to start off a thread that someone from URC might pay attention to. I'll start off with a few:

Bugs/Defects
- Battery Indicator - does not show past the 5th frame of an animated GIF.
- Fixed size dialog boxes (e.g. Variable Manager). Cannot see complete text in right side and cannot scroll or resize to address.
- Dragging devices (to arrange the order). Does not always move the selected device (i.e. moves a different one)
- Memory Leak - it appears that after a number of hours usage, the editor starts having issues and behaves erratically (e.g. clicking on a device does not always highlight it amongst many others)

Wishlist
- Would be nice to be able to zoom into 'simulate mode' too (can do in 'page mode')
- Allow selection of any of the installed Windows fonts (currently has a very limited list)
- Opening of multiple RCC files at the same time and ability to copy between them (cut & paste from one file to another, or drag and drop)
- Hex Editor - long overdue

Cannot think of any more right now, but I'm sure others who use the software more than me have got plenty more.

That's one I haven't experienced. I leave my editor running all week long, every week, and use it every day, and never have I encountered that one. Maybe an editor re-install would correct that?

Will give it a try - may well be related to functionality I invoked. Not about leaving it open, but actively using it. Was working last night for about 4 hours, moving stuff around, copying & pasting, macros, etc. All of a sudden, went to rename a device, pressed type 2 chars and it wouldn't accept anything else. Thought it was maybe my keyboard batteries, opened Word and was able to type just fine. Back to MX-Editor and still not able to type the device name. Shutdown/Restart machine and worked fine again. No other applications were running at the time (loaded Word after problem)

I noticed on my install, that if I select a background and open the box to import a different graphic file from say my desktop, the whole program will shutdown after a few seconds. I have to be quick to pick the file I want. :)

I use timers on my MX-3000 and it wakes up to execute. I think this was a problem with early ones, but it was fixed a long time ago. I do not have to have my screen set to stay on in the base anymore either.

Awesome! I'll give it a try, I had an older MX-3000 that never woke-up on a timer event, but I have a newer one purchased to try out the MX-3000 / MSC-400 combo.

That's not a bug of the 900. Technically, it's a bug of the 850 that you could add devices in the LCD editor. Devices are only meant to be added under the Add Devices section.

#1 Sizeable windows in the editor would be nice. Especially the Pre-Programmed IR Database setup.
#2 Ability to set contrast in editor.
#3 Can not delete commands in Embedded IR List

I have the same problem with the editor. I keep getting an intermittent connection even though the active sync says it is connected. Unplugging the USB and reinserting it forces it to reconnect most of the time. Rebooting solved it the last time it happened.

Great Thread!!!!!!!! I really hope URC checks this out!!!!!!!

When importing devices you cannot select "watch" or "listen" as a device
This is a real pain in the *ss when you have page jumps in macros that return the remote to watch, or listen.

B&K multizone ID 00 STILL DOESNT LOAD AT ALL!!!! (mx900&950)( I told them this almost a year ago) This is a big pain because code 00 is the defaulf "all" command in the CT series.
In fact A LOT of the B&K multizone codesets do not work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, took me about a half hour when I first programmed one to remember to save after I'd modify the favorites...annoying at the least.

I agree with the comments mentioned here. I am new to the MX-3000 (off a Pronto 3000) but actually miss some of the features in the ProntoeditNG software.

I hope that URC does listen here and implements the suggestions in this thread.

Bugs/Defects
- Battery Indicator - does not show past the 5th frame of an animated GIF.
- Fixed size dialog boxes (e.g. Variable Manager). Cannot
see complete text in right side and cannot scroll or resize to address.
- Dragging devices (to arrange the order). Does not always
move the selected device (i.e. moves a different one)
- Memory Leak - it appears that after a number of hours
usage, the editor starts having issues and behaves erratically
(e.g. clicking on a device does not always highlight it amongst many others)

I will add one... I find that CTRL-Z (Undo) many times does not work. It works when I click on UNDO in the menu but not the kbd command.

Wishlist
- Would be nice to be able to zoom into 'simulate mode' too (can do in 'page mode')
- Allow selection of any of the installed Windows fonts
(currently has a very limited list)
- Opening of multiple RCC files at the same time and ability
to copy between them (cut & paste from one file to another, or drag and drop)

I would love to see this. It is one of the things I miss about ProntoEditNG. I could open 2 different files and copy and paste easily between them. That was convenient to bring others design elements/codes into my setup.

- Hex Editor - long overdue

Absolutely! There are some things I would like to see out of URC which would make importing codes & setups easier. They MUST (they may never but they really should) support importing PCF's from somewhere within the editor. I think it is wrong to tell people to download another companies CCF editor to enter codes (especially when you don't let people download yours... even some of those that have previously purchased your device) in order to import a more 'standard' file format and not support a newer (IMO more used) format that is available. And if you have codes or design elements you like in a PCF, you are S.O.L. That would be the ultimate way especially for those that may have had the competitors’ product in the past. This would also open up URC clients to a much larger source for design elements & codes. This would make upgrading much easier and supply more codes for those that need them. Look at any software programs of the past. When WordPerfect was number one, where would MS Word be if they could not import a previously saved file created in that and other W.P. files.

I posted this on the URC installer forum, and I also told them IN PERSON at their headquarters back in April. Still hasn't been fixed.
