for all the complaining we do here at this site or on the job.. I would like to say I used my 1st mrf350 with an mx900 and it worked flawlessly...

PANASONIC TV
MOTOROLLA HDDVR
SONY DVD 5 DISC
DENON AVR687

I just wish we could change the lable on the mx900 where the LISTEN/WATCH buttons are.. I use the watch for the main room and the listen for the 2nd zone...

I"m glad to hear it!

I'd rather have different labels on the Watch and Listen buttons too.

However I"m loving my MX-900 which I just paired with an MRF-300 - MY first RF config - and I LOVE IT!

Sony TV
Marantz Receiver
Motorola Cable Box
Sony CD 5-disc
Sony VCR
Sony DVD - 1 disc

All inside the same cabinet.

Wonderful! I will NEVER go back to straight IR unless I absolutely have to!

Greg :-)

If you right click on Watch or Listen in tree view (in the MX editor) you can select rename and call them something else.

I've done quite a few installs using various combinations of Mx850's/900's with Mrf300's/350 and have not had one single problem. In fact we're now exclusively using the Mrf's as opposed to wired IR for control.

Thats it. URC will start offering customized buttons for just such an occasion. Truly a custom installers remote.

The buttons needn't have Watch and Listen on them.

They can merely have a longer, thicker bar that lights up when the "Light" button is pushed. Watch and Listen aren't always used as "Watch" and "Listen".

Anything but Watch and Listen. It is too restrictive.

I would even put one long bar with the word MAIN in the center and something like the little bar that you see for the Page buttons on each side to push for the Left Main and the Right Main, but you only see what each one is by the label at the top of the remote.

I'm not sure that it is that intuitive, but there has to be something better than Watch and Listen.

Frankly, a single MAIN button worked just fine for me on the MX-500 to MX-850, and then use the Page buttons to move to the next Main page.

Thoughts?

i wish urc would have asked the custom installers to help design the 900/950. I don't think they would change design mid stream...what a shame since we are the ones selling there product.. I never had a custome come to me and ask for there brand... I chose to sell urc do to: cost/performance/value......

I agree 100%. I think the Watch/Listen forces the end user to have push extra buttons unnecessarily.

Because we are now forced to use the watch/listen pages I put the same buttons/labels/macros on both the watch/listen page with the exception of a few minor differences on page 3 of the watch/listen page. That way it doesn't matter what activity my wife pushes. She will be able to get to what she wants to do whehter or not she pushes watch or listen.

Yes indeed. Don't hold your breath though. I don't think it's going to happen.

Breathing easily! :-)

We are the type who like to take an already great product and tweak just a little bit more.

And I do know that URC has taken some advice and put it into their products in the past. Maybe not this one, but don't hesitate to post your thoughts!

It took a long time for my suggestion to have Skip + and Skip - buttons on the remotes, but the MX-900 and TX-1000 (URC's latest remotes) have them, and so does the MX-950, although not the best implementation, since I don't believe it was designed to have those buttons at the beginning.

Suggestions are always welcome! You can say anything you want about a manufacturer, and whether they are willing to take advice or not on product planning and implementation, but you can't expect any manufacturer to take your ideas and at least think them over if you don't expressly state them!

Your right. And the more people who voice there opinion's about needs and wants the more the manufacturer will listen. Especially if the people doing the voicing are the same ones who help provide the bread and butter for the manufacturer.

Who says they won't change the design midstream. Remember the original MX500? They changed the button layout midway through its production.
