I know that URC makes the keypads for B&K. And URC now has its own wall-mounted remote, but it's not hard-wired and uses batteries. I would love to see URC sell something like the B&K keypads or even a touchscreen (like RTI does). Something that could be hard-wired with CAT5 to the MSC-400.

Would anybody else on this forum want something like this from URC?

(I wouldn't mind using the B&K keypads but I'm not a B&K dealer).

Since it's wired, power is there - a KP-980 color in-wall keypad.

Guaranteed to be a winner.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

At first i thought you guys might be joking but now im not so sure..

Do any of you guys visit the vendors at CEDIA or do you all spend your whole trip at the bars?

They just showed their kp-980 and it should be available in 2 weeks.

LOL nice stamp. Does it still have the magnetic back? I've figured out how to retro cat5 through a refrigerator door.

Only six of the eight soft buttons are accessible to regular customers. The other two are only availabe to Jedis.

Yes URC, a wired, color TP would be a winner from you guys. Always have felt this is an area that you guys are seriously lacking in. Even with the KP900.

Wow... that's a good PhotoShop job there, seriously.

As far as URC making a touch panel: we hear you, but a lot of factors have to be weighed. Things are never as simple as "everyone says they want one" when making the decision of what and when to build a product. The recession alone is a major factor in the decision these days. However... don't think we're not listening. Take the MX-880 for example: it wasn't even originally part of our road map, but enough dealers presented their case as to how many they could sell, and we responded.

Stay tuned,
Dale

I'd like to see a wired and wireless version of the following:
KP980
KP3000
KP6000 (w/Ethernet port)

I am a B&K dealer and do like the KP950 (CK2.2) but lately, I've been using KP900s and MX980s on my B&K systems (all wireless).

Because:
If I do the wired KPs, I have to use dual emitters or dual source emitters on all source components, because I'm always going to also have an MSC400 or (at least) a MRF350... regardless. So I've been using all wireless back to a base station. And it works well!
Chasing Ernie's post count, one useless post at a time.

Dale, I'd be happy with a hard-wired version of the KP-900 for right now. No batteries and direct-wired to an MSC-400 (and obviously flush-mounted & non-removable from wall). Or, a URC-branded CK 2.2 that would hard-wire to an MSC-400.

Tiny little touchscreens are awful IMO. I prefer the LCD & hard buttons.

I liked used Phast's DMS keypad much better than i did Crestrons CT-1000 (and the ugly cousin the LC-1000)

Speaking of Phasts DMS keypad... Am i the only one who has noticed the URC stole their design, then added a bunch of extra buttons and called it the KP-900? :)

Im joking.. i apoligize for mentioning Phast and URC in the same sentence.. please dont hurt me.

I'm not sure how those B&K keypads are programmed but if they store the programming locally to each keypad similar to the Elan Z keypads there's no reason you couldn't take IR out and go into the IR in on an MSC. You lose port routing by doing this obviously.

It's with particular irony that you now learn that you're talking to the guy who designed the KP-900.

lol... to be honest, this is the first time I've seen the other keypad. But yeah, I can see a little similarity.

...but this one goes to 11.

Best regards,
Dale

I got a KP900 given to me at training today .. I'll play with it but to be honest I'm not a fan of it's aesthetic design. I might use it in a bathroom but never in a main public area.

If you make a in wall... make a 6000 version with less hard buttons more screen, IMO, is always better then tons of hard buttons that aren't used on any secondary control. Im sure the pause button will come in real handy when I'm controlling house lighting scenes.

I could. If I was a B&K dealer.
