We are having a problem onsite that seems to come down to the MX800 remote we are using.

We are controlling an Inday switcher via IR and tested all codes using, of all things, an MX700 (only needed line-of-sight IR control). But when we get to the jobsite and download to the customers MX800 (think the older MX remote with the hard to use center button) it will NOT control the SAME Inday switch we tested the very codes on.

We have turned off RF and the IR blaster in the program, so we are testing only with line-of-sight IR from the MX800 with no luck. Yet using the Inday's factory remote, we can control it fine.

My only thought is that the MX800 cannot flash the right frequency code for some reason (either remote has gone defective, or perhaps the "older" MX remotes had issues like this). We are kinda stumped, any thoughts?!?

I've never heard of a problem specific to the older MX-800s (only the older MRF-200s). Have you tried standalone learning from the Inday remote?

Yes, technically, several times. We first learned the codes into the MX700 and when flashed from the MX700 they worked flawlessly. It was only after we dowloaded to the MX800 that the codes didn't work, even though the MX800 controls all other gear fine.

Could it be due to the newness of the Control Suite software? Maybe the 800 didn't like something that was downloaded to it?

I meant learning directly to the MX-800 without going through MXEditor. Also, if you're using the MX-850 editor in CCS instead of the MX-800 editor, that might be the problem.

If you are using the MX-800 Editor, I would open the file and do a "Save As..." with a new file name and then use THAT file to download to my MX-800. You'd be surprised how this can sometimes "clean up" a file.

And as Mike says, always use the Editor that belongs to the proper remote. Some have used Editors with higher numbers and have had success, but there have been those who haven't, and did have success when they used the proper Editor.
