Hello,

New to URC products so bear with me. Working with a MX-950 and MRF-350.

Trying to control a Samsung HLN617 TV. The Samsung has a green feedback LED that flashes when it is getting IR input.

The MX-950 when set to use IR works fine controlling the Samsung.

When trying to use the MRF-350 (after setting the MX-950 to use only RF) the blaster on the front of the MRF-350 works fine controlling the Samsung.

Trying to use one of the stick-on emitters doesn't work. The emitter is flashing but the Samsung is not responding, even the feedback led is inactive. Tried various level settings on the MRF-350, tried positioning the emitter all over the place: Nogo.

The stick-on emitters work fine controlling all of the other components.

So what is the difference between the emitters in the MX-950, the emitters in the MRF-350 and the stick-on emitters and why is the Samsung having a problem?

Thanks in advance, Frederick C. Wilt

Your stick on emitter must be in the wrong location.

RPTVs like your Samsung often have the IR receiving eye behind the screen at the bottom of the set. Without opening up the TV to insert one of the emitters, you may have to use IR directly from the remote.

Thanks for the feedback.

You are both correct. I wrongly assumed the detector was somewhere behind the grill at the bottom. Further testing confirmed that it is behind the screen. Placing the emitter over the edge of the screen works but doesn't look very good. The set doesn't have an IR-in jack either.

I need to give this some thought.

Thanks again!

Yes you can.
It sure looks better than an emitter stuck on the screen!
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!
