Haven't tried this in a while, so I don't recall how it's _supposed_ to work - but on a recent MX850 I had a macro calling another one. This didn't seem to work, and I recall perhaps hearing that this wasn't supported ... is that true, or is this supposed to work?

Is it any different for the mx900/950/3000 or tx1000, will these support calling a macro from within a macro?

netarc, I asked the same question, and got some information here.

It seems the answer is that they work on all models above the 850, but not on the 850.

I know you can use nested macros with the MX-3000, but it does not seem to work with the other models.

Thank you,

I regularly use nested macros on the MX-900, 950, and TX-1000 also. It is not supported on the 700, 800, or 850 though.

One thing I've noticed is that a macro on a "Watch" or "Listen" page can not be nested in another macro with the 900, 950 or 1000. Macros on any device pages can though.

Actually, a macro on a watch or listen page can be nested, but there is a little glitch in the whole operation. In order to do it you have to click View>Page View and Simulated. You must open the watch or listen page that contains the macro in page view. Then start recording your macro, when you want to nest the watch macro, you must click it in the page view, not simulated view.

No wonder I haven't gotten it to work on the other Editors. I think that's a bug that should be addressed. They should all work the same way.

Thank you,

I can confirm that this works on the MX900, as I just tried it with several macros today. It's odd, though - when in macro-learning mode, buttons that have macros associated with them don't show up with an "M" ... rather, they're blank, like an unassigned button.

However, selecting the macro button does call the nested macro during the "calling" macro's execution.
