To all:

I purchased an mx-900 remote on ebay and need to get it repaired. I sent it in Universal remote control and they are telling me that it was purchased from and unauthorized dealer. What are my options to get the remote repaired? Can anyone help? I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can offer. Thanks.

The remote has two problems:

1. The light button does not operate (it is mechancal, not a program problem, the button clicked and I believe part of the internal plastic part of the button broke in side the remote.

2. The lowest line of the lcd is partially missing.

Can anyone help me with my option to get my remote repaired?

Mike

i thought all those illegal sellers on ebay gave a no questions asked 3 year warranty making it a MUCH better deal than supporting those greedy CI's and authorized resellers.

is this not the case?

cant Dougthetheaterman fix it?

let us know how it works out

URC will fix it for you, but you'll have to pay them. That may or may not be cost effective.

Since the remote is already at URC, just have them fix it for you. To my knowledge that is the only option you have. Other than of course taking it up with the ebay seller, getting your money back and buying it from a legit source; but that would just make too much sense.

Agree with everything you said, except the word "legit", since sales made by unauthorized merchants are not illegal. For the record, I bought my MX-900 from Surf Remote.

Perhaps it should have been worded as.......

Do you want to be self-insured, or do you prefer to have a warranty?

Good luck having someone fix it. I was in electronic repair for 11 years and when I tried to fix a mx 700 URC was no help with capacitor values or locations of caps. They said it was proprietary information and they could not give it to me. The only other way to get those values would have been to open another unit up, which I was not gonna do. I sent it back to them and it was less than $100 to repair.
