I thought I saw somewhere in the documentation for the
MSC400 that it isn't recommended to use ports 7-12 as
IR outputs on a permanent basis.

It's not recommended to use un-sleeved Ir Emitters on 7-12 long-term. It's OK to use the sleeved emitters permanently...

Yep, I've got a pack of six sleeved emitters just waiting for the software update that never arrived. Strange that this wasn't released, since it seemed to be a day or two away back in December.

Have a MSC400 training tomorrow. Hopefully it will be an advanced class like they are saying. I'll ask and report back.

They have a workaround for this that involves setting two RF IDs in the MSC-400. One for ports 1-6, and the second for ports 7-12. Anything sent to the second channel will get mapped to the higher ports (port 1=7, 2=8, and so on).

At least that's the theory. I've never been able to get it to work. :-(

If you do a live up on the MX3000, MX950, and MX900 you will see the RFIDs for 10-1F. Selecting these will allow you to use ports 7-12. Also use a sleeved emitter.

Thanks Mike;
Could you please post the versions for the MX-3000 editor.

I cannot find it in mine :(
Editor Ver 1.20.154
IR DB Ver. 1.80
Manager Ver. 2.23.2007.228

Just to confirm, I should be able to select it under Program / 7. RF Control / RF Setup / Receivers / Receiver ID - drop down, correct??

TIA!

Hi Mike I just downloaded the new update as well and I don't see it on the mx-3000.

However, I have been using Splogue's method for a couple of weeks and it has been working fine for me.

By the way it looks like they added to the MSC-400 serial database. I have been waiting for Yamaha receivers to be included, which I noticed are now there.

cheers

Pete

The MX-900 editor supports the extended RF IDs of 11-1F, but the 3000 and 950 do not, even after a live update.

Pete: I'm glad to hear this is working for you. Darn it! Now I'm gonna have to play with it some more in case I'm the only one having trouble with it. ;-)

but the 3000 and 950 do not, even after a live update.

MX-950 instructions are noted in the receiver window:
To assign MSC ports 7-12 you must create a 2nd receiver with a unique RFID. Second receiver ID holds ports 1-6 which are actually ports 7-12 for you. In the MSC Editor under *configuration settings* please check *secondary RFID box* and select this ID

The MX-3000 has no instructions, hopefully it works the same though.

The MX-900 works as intended for some reason.

And no- this was not covered in the training apparently.

The MX-3000 works the same (with the secondary ID).

The MX-900 came out last, so they built it knowing it was going to have to work with the MSC-400.

Most of the training uses the MX-900 as example. Now we know why. ;-)

This does work and we are using it in our showroom, as well as on a customer's home.

Showroom: 1 ea. MX3000, 3 ea. MX950 all talking to one MSC400

Customer's home: 1 ea. MX950; 4 MX900 - all talking to one MSC400. Here we have to create 2 RF ID's in the 900 configs (even though the 900 supports 7-12 on one RFID) because it has to coexist in the same system (MSC400) with a MX950 (Which only supports 7-12 on RF ID2). This does work and works beautifully. You do need to make sure that the RFID's and port assignments match in all of your MX900/950/3000 files as well as in the MSC400 file. Once that is accomplished properly, you get perfect IR routing.

FP Crazy: Which RF IDs are you using? I've never been able to determine why mine doesn't work as it should, so that might be something to try changing.
