I am programming an MX-810 to work with a Pioneer PDP-5101FD plasma that uses both an HDMI input and a direct cable input. This plasma has two direct cable inputs (A and B) which are toggled with a single ANT (antenna) button on the native Pioneer remote and only the "A" input is being used.

The HDMI input is selected with no problem. The problem I have is that whenever the TV activity is selected, the ANT input is selected. This works fine the first time the ANT input is select as it chooses the Cable A input, but the second time, the TV is switched to the non-functioning Cable B input (If someone presses the TV activity button twice in a row, or presses the TV Favorites activity and later presses the TV button).

Does anyone have a suggestion for how I can ensure that only the Cable A input is selected? I looked at the Pioneer manual and there seems no way to disable switching to the Cable B input when ANT is selected a second time.

i use a 980, and i would just add the "ANTENNA TOGGLE" button on the main "watch TV" page so you can just toggle it yourself if need be. otherwise you could split the cable line so both A and B have a signal.

i'm sure theres a better, much more complicated way mind you. ;-)

all the best!

Thanks. I can put the ANT button on the MX-810 TV page, but the brief time on ANT-B is a loud burst of static. Very annoying. I may try splitting the cable and seeing how much that affects the signal.

There does not appear to be a discrete code for ANT-A. Sheesh.

If you have the msc-400 you can go direct to ant A and B via serial commands.

If not you can make your IR macros similar to the following:

Watch DVD (or whatever sources are on your VID input):

TV : Input 4 (or whatever your HMDI is)

Watch Cable/OTA via internal tuner:

TV : CH + (don't issue an antenna or a/b command just ch+ from the other inputs will bring you back to the last antenna you were on so if it's never on B it will always goto A)

I program a favorite channel while on ANT A and use that as the go to TV tuner command, always goes to that channel but at least it stays on same ANT A.

INPUT 4
2.0 Second Delay
ANT

Discrete every time for the last Antenna Input. There's really no way they would get on the wrong Antenna this way, but a toggle on the page couldn't hurt. How about just hook up both cable inputs and call it a day?

Why mess around with a 3 step work around?

Ch + goes direct to tuner and does not change the channel from previous.

Try it, you'll like it.
