I'll be cross posting this in a few other forums to see if I can get URC to address this issue. This seems to be a casualty of the latest FW update to the MX950, as I've sold between 80 and 100 MX950s in the last few years and never experienced it until lately.

Yeah, I know the MX950 is discontinued but I've many out there and they occasionally need changes made (new equipment etc.).

Problem:
I went out to update a MX950 I sold a year ago. From the main watch page, the watch DVD or Cable choices invoke large macros with a combined total of appx 40 secs of delays - due to a projector turning on and needing that long before it can accept an input command change. Upon pushing one of the main choices, the macro jumps to a wait page and goes about its commands. All of the commands take place within the first 10 secs, except the final input change on the projector and then jumping to the selected device page (DVD, Cable box, etc.).

If you keep the remote awake (carry it around in your hand), everything carries out as expected. If the remote is allowed to go to sleep (basically, set it down), the last 2 commands do not execute. When you wake up the remote (pick it up), it then spits out the last 2 commands (PJ input change; device page jump) and everything is fine.

It never did this before the last FW update. I sent the config file to URC's tech dept. and they experienced the same thing. Their answer was to change the sleep time to 60 secs. I'm not sure if they felt that was the permanent fix but I feel this is unacceptable. I want to make sure the others are aware of this and URC has intentions to fix this. Putting the remote to a 60 sec sleep is, of course, not the long term answer. For one thing, that would be most annoying in a dedicated HT (having your remote stay on/lit for 60 secs in a darkened theater room).

Please feel free to chimein here and keep this thread alive until it's fixed. Thanks.

In the meantime, do you have any laptops with the previous version on it or the previous version sitting on a backup anywhere? You could do your tweaks via that until this is resolved for the job that requires that long of a turn-on macro. Or, I wonder what version you'll get if you d/l the software from the website as an end consumer? You could try that and open their file, do your tweaks and save and you could be back to the remote waking up.

I don't have the ability to replicate this since I don't use the 950 anymore and have no clients with them using long macros, luckily.

No only one laptop and my desktop editor has been updated too. I thought about unloading the 950 editor and trying to install a prev version, but I don't know where to find a previous editor. Also not sure about the 950 FW (v 1.39?) as that is where the problem probably lies (obviously not the newer IR DB v 1.83)

Have you checked to see what the d/l version for consumers ends up giving you? May be worth your while to try that on your PC to get those couple remotes back to the way they were. How about a call to URC to see if they can send you the previous version?
