It stopped responding to any button presses.

Since it doesn't respond to the buttons I couldn't ENT+ACTIVITIES to get to menus.

I pressed the reset button in the battery compartment...no luck.

I removed the battery for 10 minutes...no luck.

I can plug it in and Wizard can see it and "Send To Remote" works...but still doesn't respond to buttons...

Getting desperate....

removed the battery and then pressed the reset button put battery back in...no luck
pressed and held reset button while removing battery...no luck

I got nothing. Additionally, the backlight/LCD does not shut off.

Summary-responds to Wizard but not to buttons and always lit up...

Mike

There is a reset button inside the battery cover. Take off the cover, look down at the hole where the cover latches. There is a small square button hidden there. Push it down with the battery in and reset the remote. See if that brings it back.

Sorry, guess I wasn't paying close attention. Must have been sleep deprivation.

Have you attempted to send a different configuration to the remote?

I tried that this morning.

I created a new one and uploaded...no luck

I then uploaded one of the other configurations...no luck

I uploaded the original...no luck

It doesn't respond to the buttons and the backlight stays on...btw, it eats battery fast that way.

Have you tried a reset with it plugged into the charger? When the battery gets low on the 810, it will continiously reset until it dies completely.

I think you may have a good case for a warranty call :(

I'd contact Mike at Surf first. He would probably handle return or point you to where you needed to call.

URC is confused and asked me to return it to them.

Thanks dsp81 for trying. I figured it would be a return but I thought I'd take a shot.

Thanks to Mike a Surf Remote for responding to my email so quickly, even on a weekend.

I sent the remote back to URC on a Monday @ 4pm.

I received a replacement on Thursday when I go home from work.

Hopefully they will throw out the MX-810's!!! But for those of us who sold a few, 12 in our case, we still have to deal with this s**t.

I'm told this is a firmware issue with the older MX-810's, as our Vista laptop works without the firmware update, not very well mind you, but it works after about six attempts! Go figure?

I had the exact same thing the other day and found this post via google.

I noticed the little red transmit indicator was flashing constantly. My guess was that a button was making contact continuously.

Tried the reset button inside and downloaded programs - didn't help.

I got mine working again by pulling the battery and leaving it out overnight. Then I pressed all the buttons many times and stuck a compressed air straw up the inside back and blew some air. I have a spare charged battery and put it in and it is functioning normally now. I had to reprogram from the wizard but all is well.

I charged the other battery and stuck it back in and it is still functioning properly.

I hope this helps someone who stumbles on this thread.
