PRoblem no. 1
I tried everything I've read in this forum. eg reinstalling the drivers, logging in as adminstrator mode. Nothing worked. The update will just stop after a few minutes saying it failed.

Short of me installing my laptop with XP over the Vista, what can I do?

Problem no. 2

I connect the USB cable to the remote, but I cannot seem to pull the info from the remote. Always has an error

appreciate any help

PS - I live in Singapore and cannot possibly use any of the custom installers based in North America. My copy of the software CAN be updated

This has been covered numerous times. MX-950 is NOT compatible with Windows Vista. No workarounds, no shortcuts, it just dont work like many of the other peripherals that dont work with Vista

Will installing XP as a dual boot work?

Yes. The MX-950 requires ActiveSync, which was dropped in Vista. It still exists in XP, though.
