I just got my MX-980 and have started to program it. For some reason, the codes supplied for my Sony DVD player (NS999ES) don't seem to work. I have an MX-700 programmed using the IR codes from URC. I exported the DVD device on the MX-700 and I was able to import it using the the Universal Browser window on the MX-980 (not really sure what this is used for). Anyway, not sure what to do with the codes now they are in the universal browser window. I can see the codes from the MX-700, but not sure what to do with them. I can't seem to drag and drop them anywhere. I am trying to avoid having to relearn all of the buttons.

The codes you drag/drop from the universal browser need to be learned commands (or pronto hex if you have that available), is this the case?

When you say you can't drag/drop them please explain? Are you dragging the button from the panel view over to an actual button or its image on the LCD? It needs to land on the associated button (in the simulated view) not the image.

edit: I'm also having a hard time believing the IR db codes for that unit aren't working. Are you certain that the buttons programmed show device code 189? Are you sure you have RF and IR settings properly? Sony commands are about as generic as they come and rarely have problems.

Thanks tweeterguy.

I got it to work. To answer your question, the codes I am trying to drag and drop are the codes from the URC DB for my MX-700. They work but the codes for the same device for my MX-980 don't.

Anyway, I was able to drag the codes (i.e. power on/off) from the universal browser and drop to an actual button on the MX-980. I tried to drop to the LCD and then also the panel on the bottom right of the MX-980 editor. I just tested it and it seems to work. Not sure why the codes from URC for the DVD player don't work though.
