Hey folks:

Given that a growing number of our products offer color screens, what brands are most important to you to have logos for the brand itself?

I don't mean logos for specific products—just manufacturers. For example, Yamaha and Onkyo are pretty obvious choices. But there are others that might not come to mind quite as fast, but still might need to appear on a "Devices" page or menu, such as Da-Lite or Vidikron. Then there are some of the "lesser" brands that, while they might not be your preferred brands, are nonetheless sometimes demanded by customers, such as Vizio.

Any other suggestions you can throw in this weekend while I'm spending time on the project? Obviously, I'm not trying to cover EVERY last manufacturer, but I'd like to be sure I've at least got the obvious ones covered.

Best regards,
Dale

Dale, I have never put a brand name or logo on a color remote.

Nonetheless, in mainline stuff you'd want Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, Integra, Pioneer, Marantz.

Displays - Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, Toshiba, JVC.

Controllers? Well there's only one, of course! :*)
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Tom:

I had clients ask for this quite often when I used to do custom programming. Typically these logos were used on "Devices" pages to provide direct access to the entire button set of a particular component. Granted, this is a nightmare come true for most custom installers. But nevertheless, I have installers ask me for brand logos all the time, so I'm working on a set of them.

Incidentally, I asked this question here and on URC Control Room. The brands that were suggested count for about 10 of the over 100 brand icons I've included so far. So I'm pretty sure I have the basics covered now. :-)

Best regards,
Dale

sorry to get off subject, but could you add PATIO AND POOL with nice pictures so I can do a second zone. Also just a thought, could you remove the usb plug on the side of the remote and put it on the back of the charging cradle? I find the little rubber piece to be annoying.

thanks,

Sure, I can PhotoShop the USB plug to anywhere on the remote you want it! I can even put it on a rabbit's head.

ar ar ar...

Seriously though... I'm only drawing graphics right now. Any retooling is an eniterly different question.

Best regards,
Dale

I would like to add;

Display: Sharp Aquos & LG.
Video Game: Playstation3, Wii & Xbox360 (real logos).
Receiver: Sony & Harman Kardon.
DVR: Scientific Atlanta (explorer 8300 HD).

I would also like the real HDTV logo in the screen of the TV icon on the remote.
Thats my wishlist.

Thanks

Jack

Dale,

DVDO has a real nice colorful logo and some of my clients now have that unit as as special page in the 980 remote.

FYI, they already have these under device icons... and both are cool looking logo's to boot!

i'm sure these have been requested already -

Pioneer Elite... i'm sure others will run into the same problem here, what if you have multiple devices of the same brand, ie:my TV, AVR, and DVD player are all pioneer elite...?

Scientific Atlanta
Xbox 360
PS3
Toshiba

Hey Dale,

I will second the Patio and Pool icons. We are doing a lot of outdoor stuff here in Arizona but don't have anything that quite fits this emerging market area.

If you could help that would be great!

Remember, this is just a question of brands. Activities and devices are a whole different question.

Best regards,
Dale
