Hi, is it possible to make a button within an activity, link back to the main activity page?

For instance you have

-Watch TV
-Watch DVD

and you click tv

then you want to watch dvd so you click 'main menu' soft button and you go back to

-Watch TV
-Watch DVD

Is this possible or would you need to click 'activities'?

Cheers
Terry

No, page jumps are not available on the 810. You press the activities button to go back. Incidentaly, if you press activities again without pressing any other macros, it jumps back to the activity you were in. Same goes for devices.

This auto memory of where you were in either Devices or Activities is a frustrating part of the MX-810 software and pushes me to the MX-980. I love the MX-810, but the lack of complete control is annoying. It's also hard to explain to clients of why they have to hit the devices or activities button twice to get back to the main page. Hitting the activity or devices button once should be the main page every time. This really confuses clients, and it's a baby flaw in the programming process thought up by URC.

Page jumps would definitely add allot more function to the remote. I would like to hear URC's thoughts on the subject.

The MX-810 doesn't support page jumps because it wasn't designed to operate that way. It was designed to achieve a pre-designed style of functionality very quickly, with less experience that you'd need to accomplish the same thing with an OpenArchiteture (MX-Editor) remote. It's bound to a particular navigation structure, by design. While it is possible to get the MX-810 to do things far outside its design parameters, we designed the feature set to do what ProWizard was designed to do, not to be "MX-Editor Lite."

As I've said before: we certainly wouldn't rule out the idea of a future product that has many of the features of the MX-810, but is programmed with something more like MX-Editor. But if that product comes, it would not arrive in the form of a version of MX-Editor for the MX-810. It would be an entirely new model whose internal architecture is designed for MX-Editor-style editing.

Obviously, I can't speculate on what direction our product roadmap will take in the future. But I wanted to clarify that MX-810 does what it's designed to do. If your client's application doesn't fit that design, we've got a whole product line ready to meet your client's needs.

Best regards,
Dale

Thankyou for your reply.

When I was first buying my remote I was tossing up between the mx-810 and the mx-980.

Being a first time buyer and not knowing the page-jump limitations of the mx-810, I went on to buy it. (My fault entirely.. and don't get me wrong, I do like the remote. i just see the extra potential!)

Looking at this page on your website [Link: universalremote.com]

In my opinion, the mx-810 is the only remote with a perfect look/layout to it. The layout of the mx-980 is no competition for the mx-810. Personally I dont like the lack of a hard "rec" button.

Hopefully URC will take these considerations in when designing their next line of products as I believe they would have had a real winner if they had provided the mx-810 with the programability of the rest of their remotes.
