k... Here is the challenge.... I have a creston system that I would like to move away from.... No disrespect to the custom installers, but I work for IBM and I would like to program my own system.... Nothing like Watson Research Lab... I have a AV2 and PAD8 that I would like to take out... They control the whole house audio with a Sonance AMP.... I have an MX3000 that controls a single zone (Master Bedroom).... I would like to program the MX3000 to control a whole house audio... However, I have heard it is hard to do it with Crestron... Was thinking of switching out the crestron AV2 and PAD 8 and put in a Nile ZR4630 or 8630.... I see the codes are in the MX3000 IR Database.... So, I am thinking i can control them...

So, here is the questions.... One, opions on the move? Should I go with Niles to replace crestron... I have 6 zones all audio... No real complex things...

2... Is Niles also proprietary... Meaning, I may be able to get the MX 3000 to control it, but I can program the NILES Touchpads... I don't know if they also restrict their software....

3.. If Niles doesn't work, does anyone have any suggestions on a solid DIY whole house audio that can be controled by one or more mx3000s?

yes, with limitiations. niles has there own set of codes. you will see them in the mx3000 editor. If your interested, I have the 8630 with regular keypads and one touchscreen for sale. In order to control wirelessly, you would need 2 keypads per zone. one at the head end. then you can add ir routing from a mrf350/400. If you want to walk around the house, the mx3000 would aim at indiv. keypad with ir.

I never really liked the gloria and bob systems. Used them once or twice and never really appreciated how everything gets set up and programmed. I've been using B&K CT series for a few years now and like them so much better.

great product. rock solid. remember, they really started the audio dist. with keypads with the intro of Gloria. It is dated today, which is why they are introducing new product as we type...

Thanks for the response.... Quick follow up.... You noted limitations... Are there specific things you wouldn't be able to do that would make this a bad choice... Two, what about programing the niles touchpad and keypads? Would I be able to do that programing myself, or would i have the same issue that I currently have with Crestron where I would have to hire someone to change the program everytime I switched a component or wanted to make a change? Finally, you noted that you have some niles equipment for sale.... What is the condition of the equipment and pricing....

programing the system is a piece of cake. limited computer knowledge needed. the ts1 touchscreen is programmed from your laptop. all of the software is available on niles website. nilesaudio.com

i do not know how to give you the info about the cost of my system. I am a custom installer and have the system running in my house (showroom).
I always sell off my stuff to get new stuff..

Do you still have any keypads for the Niles 8640 or know where I could find them. I have 2, guess I must have 4 more to use all 6 Niles zones/amps.
