Hi,

What's the latest on the problem with the MX-3000 battery indicator?

Thanks.

Thanks,

Glad to see that URC is jumping right on this problem.

URC has done nothing to correct the problem for more than a year now. Don't look for anything to happen since they seem to be too busy with their new models now.

Are you referring to the problem with the level of the battery indicator suddenly dropping for no apparent reason sometimes down so low that the low battery warning (big yellow bar) comes on? Or, are you talking about the problem with the display of the battery indicator which doesn't properly display the sixth graphic (usually a charging indicator) when the MX-3000 is placed on the charger?

URC will not acknowledge either of these problems publicly, however, in my eventually successful struggle to get a replacement MX-3000 for my older one from late 2004 which had a broken USB port, I discovered something very helpful. URC sent me three replacement remotes all manufactured on 01/03/07. All three were defective and had to be sent back. Each displayed both of the battery indicator problems. I finally got a fourth replacement manufactured on 08/15/07 which worked properly. Interesting thing about this remote is that it doesn't have the problem with the battery indicator dropping. It works perfectly in this regard, although, the battery indicator display problem when on the charger remains. What's the difference? Well the hardware itself may be slightly different but the O/S is definitely different. URC says the O/S can be updated but the remote must be sent back to them for this to be done. They wouldn't confirm they would definitely do this if a user requested it.

Just got a suprise! When I updated through Live Update the other day I was shocked to discover that URC has fixed the battery meter issue where the sixth graphic (presumably showing a charging indicator) wouldn't display. It now displays properly when the MX-3000 is placed on the charger. A very minor cosmetic problem but nice to see it fixed. Thanks URC!

Hey Bobli I sent my MX-3000 to URC with your letter to them last week to see if they will fix the button location and battery meter popup problem. Now I just have to wait and see.

1ziggi1,

Hopefully an O/S update will fix the battery meter popup problem (battery meter reading suddenly drops causing the yellow warning bar to appear). I suspect it will. When you mention the button location problem are you talking about the wrong button being activated when the screen is off? I still have this problem so I'm just careful not to try to activate a button when the screen is off. The problem has never happened when the screen is on since I got the most recent replacement MX-3000 back on Christmas Eve. Now that both battery meter problems have disappeared my MX-3000 is really working perfectly aside from the wrong button being activated should I attempt to activate a button when the screen is off.

Yes was hoping that could also be fixed. What manufacture date and firmware do you have now?

Well I got my new MX-3000 yesterday and to my surprise the battery meter popup problem still exists along with the ghost button problem. It was nice to see "Charging" while it was on the charger though.
Here is my remote info:
Manufacture date is 01/10/08
O/S version is 4.20.005.001N2 (dated 012/13/07).
Firmware Ver. 2.23.2007.12171 IrMircom3: 1.35

Your email from here doesn't seem to work so I will have to post this here.
Does you battery indicator still show charging while on the base? Mine doesn't. It just shows 100% whenever it is on the charger. Also I seem to be having some intermittent problems with some buttons not sending the correct commands. I just wonder if there is something wrong with my new MX-3000 and I need to send it back again. BTW the yellow battery warning is really starting to piss me off.
