Is there any way to set the volume at a certain level when a button is pushed?

For example, I have one device that seems to require a higher volume level. I'd like to start off this device at a higher volume when that device's button is selected.

I'd also like to ensure that when someone switches to an audio device it is not at a very high volume.

I did search, but couldn't find anything. Any help would be appreciated.

There are some receivers that will do what you are asking.

Yes, some receivers can do this, but as far as I've ever seen, these commands are always RS-232. That would mean you'd need an MSC-400 as well.

I welcome response from anyone who knows of a receiver that can take a discrete volume command via IR.

The Yamaha RX-Z11 has the ability to have 10 preset volumes via their extended IR codes. There are also 10 available volume recalls as well. There are a full 6 pages of descretes for that bad boy on Yamahas PAB site. Don't you already have them at URC??? They're in NEC format, but Yamaha has a "Hex generator" right there to convert them.

Oh, I'm not part of the group than handles the database. That's a big database. I'd be suprised if any one person knew it all. But then... those guys ARE pretty smart!

Best regards,
Dale

Well, I did find a command in the IR database for my Denon called Vol.Preset(-20DB) along with some other DB levels so I'm assuming that will do the trick. Not sure if the installer put those in or if they come that way. Thanks.

It comes that way. Installers can't add commands to a device. They're either there or they're not.

Marcus,
Would you happen to have these Hex codes? Looks like URC has not added this Z11 beast to their database as of yet.

FYI the codes I posted were for Denon which is, as far as I can tell, what the OP was looking for?

Sorry for the confusion. I bought a new Yamaha RX-Z11 yesterday and the codes are scarce.
