Guys,

Thanks for all the hard work with getting this remote working in a way that is good for all of us custom installers and prosumers. I have a quick question though. Has anyone figured out a way to change the font from white to black on the sub pages. I'm using some light backgrounds and was wondering if anyone knew how to do this.

Thanks in advance,

John

dsp,

I would appreciate a copy of the files also. If any of the other posters would be willing I'd appreciate a copy of yours also. These custom icons make the MX-810 a much slicker remote. Thanks.

Would really appreciate some help guys...

I have images in .jpg format that I used Paint to scale to less than 88x59 and save as .png but when I put the images in the Icons directory, they don't show up under All Icons. I do see blank gray icons though. I am assuming it may be something regarding transparency, but Draw Opaque was unchecked in Paint.

I tried to do the conversion with Gimp but was getting the same results. Then again... I'm not too familiar with Gimp. Anybody feeling kind enough to help a poor guy out with how to get these converted?

Thanks

Mike

I have been following this thread for some time and love this unofficial feature. I have been creating icon-based activity pages with the described techniques above with fairly good success. However, I have one nagging problem that I hope someone has solved. Example: If I create a 'Favorites' page and layout a screen that has icon buttons that spans 6 pages and then go to the browser to set the button codes, everything looks good. The problem arises when I program the remote and find that the newly created page may only show 2 of the 6 pages. In other cases, I may create 2 pages with the same technique and then have 6 blank button pages after my 2 on the remote. Before giving up last night, I noticed that the case of 2 activity pages instead of 6 had a channel-changer device selected which only had 2 pages on its corresponding device page. The activity with the 8 pages instead of 6 had a channel-changer device selected which had 8 pages. Has anyone else seen this issue? Better yet, has anyone worked around this?

I made another thread but basically I am wondering if I can program macros into the channel icons as well, basically I have my hdmi input for hd channels only, and if I have a discovery HD icon, I was wondering if it would be possible that when I hit it, it switches my tv and scaler to hdmi and then tunes to that channel.

Im using 480i composite mostly because I purchased the new hqv realta scaler and thats the only way to get it to scale 480i, my bell express (dishnetwork) receiver only allows one output resolution and makes there receiver scale the channels otherwise.

You can in the Browser.

Click on the icon for your favourite channel and the macro to change the channel will come up. You can then drag commands from the Import Tree Viewer (you can open the .wzr file you're working on). You will need to re-order the commands in the action list.

This is a great thread. It's really extended what can be done visually, on this remote. I've put together the red/green/yellow/blue balls for my Directv HR20 and am working on some graphical text for List and Format commands.

Does anyone have any premade PS3 graphics for the triangle, square, circle and X? I haven't been able to find anything that fits what I'm looking for.

Seeing that one of the URC devs chimed in here, in the furture, hopefully they will make it easier to add custom graphics to ALL buttons, whether it be in an activity or the device page.

I am trying to make my buttons 100% transparent, so that all I see on the screen are icons; I've tried two different programs and have made the buttons transparent in every case, and yet when I upload the new file to the MX-810, the buttons always have a solid background. The net effect of this is that I can't see my customized background, since the black backgrounds of the 6 buttons hides it.

What am I doing wrong here?

I had this exact problem. The only way I could get it to be transparent was to make the button with a transparent background and then add 1 single pixel with something in it. I tried to put the pixel in a location that would be covered when the icons get overlayed ontop, so to not see the pixel.

I don't know why but a 100% transparent background always gets turned into a black background on the remote(even tho in the browser, it looks transparent).

I guess chalk it up as yet another bug in the program.

Chuck,

I can't thank you enough for that tip. It worked like a charm! That does seem like a bug in the software, but fortunately it's one that is easily overcome.

Thanks again!

dsp,

I'm missing something. For my watch cable activity I use buttons from different devices...screen size, amp sound programs, etc. As others have mentioned, when I create the cable favorites activity, I have no ability to copy and paste buttons/commands from other devices/activities so I cannot add the above mentioned. Probably something obvious but I just don't see it. I did program and download successfully as you outlined, but the activity falls short of my requirements. I'd appreciate any insight.
