Once again...thanks! Not sure how I missed that. I'm really liking this remote. Can't believe I went 3 years with the touch screen.

First, Thanks to you all, this forum has been very helpful.

I too would like the custom png's, very clever!

I too had difficulty finding the customization of the activities home page, so thanks for the tip!

All the best,

Steve

It is possible to change the prepackaged icons, but requires
that you overwrite the original file. For example, if
you want to change the default icon for a satellite receiver
in Alpha, you would overwrite the following file:

Actually you don't have to overwrite. The name has to be the same. If you want to still keep the original files, rename them and add something like -Old to the file name. i.e. DVD-Old.png. Then save the new file as DVD.Png and it will use the new DVD.png file.

I thought I could use this Tutorial to customize and use my own icons for a blue ray player. The player also has the colored buttons on the remote: Red, Green, Blue & Yello so it wold be nice to have those as icons on the remote. I did as per your example and made an activity called "favorites". After I was all done with the browser step, I went back to activities and clicked on the activity "Watch Blueray" that was originally created and checked it and clicked delete. However, it looks like it was done, but the system will not let you actually delete an activity based on a device. That sucks. So basically i guess there is no way to do what I want without having two activities for the same device - My custom one and the original one.

I take that back. You have to check the activity to delete then press the delete button and then press "Next" and cycle through the screens and then viola al gone Whoo Hoo.

Even though I found the folder and the icons, no matter what I change (i.e. erase part of the original icon), create a new icon and name it the same -- it will not show up in the customize part of the 810 wizard. I have been able to add favorites in the station logo directory but it doesn't seem to allow me to change the icons. I even moved the icons directory and the images were still the same and were in the 810 wizard. Any suggestions?? Thanks.

Are you changing the files in the correct theme? Each theme has its own set of icons and they're all the same. Make sure you are selecting the same theme folder you are changing.

WOW! Just what I was looking for! Would it be possible for you to send me a copy of the icons and WZR or PNG files? Not so much for me but for my wife. The word RED doesn't translate the same as a red spot does!

Thanks for all your hard work!

I am just getting started on customizing an 810 and would really appreciate it if you could send me a copy of your icons and .wzr file.

Thanks much!

There are six slots, each 88x59. To make a solid background, I made an image that was 176x177. I placed the Playstation logo in the center and disected it down to the 6 88x59 images. For this particular setup, I only needed 3 images: 2 Playstation halves and a solid black png.

Similarly, to create a 2 (or 4, if you want) button span, I created an image that was 176x59 and placed the TiVo logo in the middle. I then disected it down to 2 88x59 images.

Luckily, there is no margin for the 6 image slots. The images are added in the same way described in the original post.
