Great thread, but I am missing one key file in all of this. I can get the images from the sources listed in this thread for the stations, and I have the software to overlay these images onto a blank/clear button. What I am missing is the blank clear button.

I created one and will try to post it in the files area.

I have an MX-880.

Thank you.

Does anyone know why swapping out the ProgressIR.png and ProgressRF.png does not work for my MX-880? I even tried swapping those images in all the other directories (MX-880Z, MX-7XX) and it still does not modify on the remote.

Make sure you've exited the Editor and re-loaded it after having done the image switch or it wont re-upload the updated image (this is the case with the 810, might be for the 880 too).

you can't change those files that way.  you need to use the .VFD editor tool and unpack the .VFD files and swap them out, then repack them into a .VFD file.

I've of course done the image swap with the editor closed, and re-opened it. That didn't work.

This .VFD editor thing I approached as well. Windows 7 allows you to mount VFD's for editing, however I searched the whole CCP tree and didn't find any VFD's.

Any pointers on where to look? Thanks!

the ColFile.vfd is located here on my computer:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Remote Control, Inc\Complete Control Program\MX-880\Images\Alpha\Elements

Ok, hmm. I'll look again. I had installed the alternate set of icons and renamed the "Alpha" theme "Alpha (2)". It might be in there... I assume I should move it into "Alpha"?

Yes, it was in the original Alpha. I extracted the original VFD file, and there are no file images for the progress screens.

I think this might be a function of the firmware?

I'm still amazed at what you folks have been able to get this remote to do. If you had any idea how badly the memory architecture of the remote is screaming, "No, no, I don't wanna," you wouldn't have ever even tried this stuff. I designed the graphics architecture to fit within the available memory and I'm scratching my head wondering WHY any of this works.

I gotta take my hat off to installer ingenuity!

i can tell you that this file here maxed out the remote.  I had originally done a 20 step animation page flip, but it wouldnt load to the remote until i trimmed it to 10 flips.

Does any of this work for the MX-780 or is there a separate thread for it?

Yeah, I want to know the same thing. Duct tape eluded to a thread, but I can't find it.

it can be done.  i posted the icons and instructions over at the URC Control Room.  it is similar to adding graphics to an MX880
