Have just purchased an MX-880(waiting for it to arrive) and was wondering can both the Editor software and the CCP software be used to program the same remote?

Or do I have to choose one of the software 'types' and stick with that?

For me, it seems easier to change the logo's,backgrounds etc etc in the editor SW, however I prefer using the CCP SW.

Cheers

You would want to use one for your own sanity if for no other reason. That being said, I haven't checked in a while but it used to be that once you used the CCP you had to jump through some hoops to be able to program that same remote with the editor.

New MX-880s require CCP. It is based on the serial number of your remote. So what you like might not matter if you end up with a newer remote. The choice would be between CCP and nothing.

Righto, thanks for that.

Is there any update on an easy way to modify(change pics etc) the vdf files in CCP?

I have Pm'd the below gentleman for his code, but no response.

I'm new here. Just got an MX-880Z and was surprised to discover that importing graphics was so difficult and discovered this forum.

I spent some time last weekend analyzing the .VFD files and they appear to be in a proprietary format. So you won't be able to edit them by changing the file type to .ZIP etc.

I've successfully written code to extract the files from a .VFD archive and create a new .VFD archive from a directory full of files. I was able to use this to enter custom device icons for my MX-880Z and my first test seems successful. I see the custom icons on the remote.

Custom Icons MX880Z

If there's interest I can share my program. It's very spartan. It's just a command-line app but it's getting the job done for me.

When you talk about donor files are you talking about stuff in the files section on this site? If so there are none for the MX-810 so where can you get them? I tried one for another MX remote and it just says "learned command"?

BTW This is a great site to get good station logos for people making custom buttons

Has anyone upgraded devices related to a customized activity yet?

I just replaced my projector and have about 8 activities that I've created custom icons for that rely on the projector. I'd really hate to have to go in and add the projector, then copy paste the commands from the new projector to each of the activities. Will copy pasting from the new projector to the old projector work?

Thanks in advance.

I am astonished at how primitive the graphics capability is in CCP. No ability to change the appearance of Icons other than Favs - pretty poor.

Having said that, can I also get a copy of your program

Thanks Much!

you can do plenty with graphics in CCP, just not on the 880. (unless you get creative)

However, I would like to see CCP a bit more like Nevo.  In Nevostudiopro it is much easier to align and center your icons.  With CCP you have to use X/Y coordinates and snap points.  Snap points can be cool, but it is a lot of leg work when setting up custom snaps.  With Nevo i can highlight specific icons, and line them up with a click of an icon.

I don't fully understand what this program does. I am on the sat logo page and downloaded the logos but they are not showing up in the folder, I can't seem to save them as PNG.

supraman215,

The images available on the sat logo page are already in PNG format. (need to save the file from the "H" link provided above logos). Where are you placing the logos once you have saved them to your PC?

Duct - stop being so damn diplomatic. There is nothing fun or cool about snap points. The align functions in Nevo, RTI and now even Pronto are far superior for graphic placemnt and working with buttons.
