With the latest software update, my MX3000 no longer can accept a download from my software. I noticed a new URC Remote Manager in my icon tray which I have to now CONNECT to before the software and MX3000 will "talk". It goes through the process like it is downloading, but no changes are being made. For example, I did a NEW/SAMPLE file. Downloaded it. My MX3000 goes through the process of downloading, but when things start back up. My original file (not the sample one) is still in the remote. Any help? I do have one of the original MX3000s. Can I somehow get back to the previous version of the software???? Help! Thanks. SJ

By the way, my PC and the remote seen to be "connected". I can send IR through it (from the MX3000 software), sync time and other COMMUNICATION options. However, I can not download a new file. Just seems to "go through the motions", but no changes are made. Thanks for any help. SJ

I had problems with the new software also. You might want to try a reset of the software with the setup menu. Hold down the main button until the setup menu comes up and reset the remote from there to factory defaults.

I was afraid to do this as it might result in a completely nonworking remote. At least it still works with the last update I made. I'm also going to get feedback directly from URC before I try this. Thanks for your help. SJ

Try right clicking on the icon at the bottom of your screen that says URC Remote Manager and selecting EXIT, then trying to download...
Best Regards,

Thanks for the response Eric. I tried that and it didn't help. As soon as I select download, the icon quickly reappears (shows connected). The remote shows that it is downloading, but nothing happens (I'm downloading a small sample file - so it is not my own). Any other help? I could do a factory reset, but I would be stuck if I ended up with a non-working remote. SJ

Also, when I select "upload", the sample file (that didn't really download) - shows up in the editor. Is it possible that two files can be on the device? Strange...

Update: I tried this with two different sample files. the last one that I downloaded to the remote shows up when I "upload"! However, my original file always show up when the remote is done rebooting....

Eric, if you do recommend a factory reset, I would appreciate it if you could try this on an older MX-3000 with the latest software. I got mine when you first released them. Has the small connector on the MX-3000. Thanks! SJ

Send me your files and I can test them on one of my remotes to see what happens. I have both the older ones and newer ones.

I'm just trying to download ANY file to my MX3000. The one I'm trying is just the sample one (e.g. aliens). Can you validate that an older remote works with the latest software?

Eric, any thoughts? Thanks.

Have you tried to upload the remote to the computer to see what the software shows is supposed to be on the remote. Is your remote password protected keeping it from loading anything new or making changes?

Yes, see my comments above. There seems to be two files on the MX3000!

If you just had the newest Editor update, try this: With the Editor closed, connect the MX3000...let it connect, THEN start the MXEditor. Immediatly download into the remote. From here on, you shouldn't have any problem loading.

I do have the latest editor update (worked perfect before this last update). Thanks for your suggestion. Tried it with no luck. Still does not update and has the same issues I mentioned above. Guess I'm getting close to just trying a reset, but if it fails I'm hosed. Does anyone have an older remote like mine that they can verify that the new software works??? Any more comments from any URC folks? I might call them to get some other ideas if I don't hear from Eric or others... Thanks.

Update: I also noticed that there are two icons in the tray now. A new URC Remote Manager and another icon (which I think has always been there - the MX-3000 manager) is also in the tray. Both show connected. I can exit the MX-3000 manager, but the new one shows back up whenever I start the download. The MX-3000 might be for the emulator... I don't believe the new one was in the previous version. SJ

I also had problems with the latest software update on both the older and newer remotes. It wouldn't let me download to the remote but it kept giving me the device not supported or check connection errors. I resolved the issue by restoring the software to the previous version.

How do you "restore the software to the previous version"?

I'm suprised you are stating that there are issues with the latest version and know one has posted these issues. I know that MANY MX-3000 folks must have upgraded foolishly like me! Help URC! I will try calling their tech support on Friday.... SJ
