In preparation for my second HR-20 next week I started on the idea of having my present HR-20 on the alternate code. Contrary to what I have read here ,my box says that my alternate code is 00002. When the installers were here and I mentioned codes, the installer had no idea what I was talking about. "People usually do not have two PVRs in one room". So, it would be safer to let them install code 1 next week. He even had trouble understanding that I did not want the volume coded to my Toshiba TV.

You're wrong: [Link: dbstalk.com]And if you want the volume to work anything other then a tv, you still have to have a tv code programmed in or the vol keys won't work.
