I programmed a remote for a client last week that has a strange problem. He has a Pioneer plasma that I do not know the model of, it is an all in one chassis unit mostly blackless than a year old. It is high on a wall and he has no clue. The unit was swapped from another model by Tweeter and he did not get a manual or receipt. I tried every codeset. Two work, toggle power works 100% of the time. Discrete off works 100% of the time. On works 10% of the time. Works 5 mins doesn't work for 20 mins very random. I think I read about this here before but I cannot find it in a search. Anybody remember this or better yet know the solution. I can think of a few ugly work arounds but I would rather "fix" the problem.

I have a 43" Pioneer Elite PRO-920 plasma. I experienced the exact same problem you are talking about and posted about it on these forums a while back:

Unfortunately, I never solved the problem, and eventually decided to remove the discrete on command from my MX-850 altogether. To tell you the truth, I never tried any of the newer codes that are available now. For all I know, the bug has been fixed, but since you seem to be having the same issue, I suspect the problem lies in the TV's firmware. I'd be really interested to know if you figure out a solution.

Thanks I knew I did not dream this. Have you tried: Power toggle followed by the discrete on? It seemed to always work right after I fired off the toggle power. Can you try it and let me know. It takes an act of congress for me to get in front of this set. It would not bother my client to have the tv flash off for a sec.

I wonder if it's like some of the JVCs where the command had to have repeats added in the RTI software and then learned back to URC. Although in that case the discretes did work when pressing the button, just not in macros.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Nope. It just stops working for a while then starts again. It seems to work more than not after it gets the toggle power command. It does not matter if it is ina a macro string or not.

I have an MXD with two sets of power discretes. The ones marked "new" not suprisingly work better with the last few generations of sets. Please email me so I can send you the file.

i had this happen with a 4350 or 60. It was frustrating as hell. The set would stop responding to anything but the oem remotes toggle power. then all would be fine. I tried the urc codes and made a ccf with the hex from pioneers site with the same result. i did 1 4270 and havent experienced this yet. (Knocking ever so profusely on wood)

I have yet to find a pioneer (pro or pdp) that I can't control. Just about all work from the URC database and if not my old standby pronto hex gets me out of the bind. You may also try switching out of the current input before power off.

Ohhhh......you must be dealing with a PDP-42A3 or whatever it was branded by us. A definate TOAD (there was a bulliten sent out on the wire about it) and was never spec'd in for custom install, at least out here. Hmmm....maybe step cust. up to 950 and use variables?

CRAP! The Tweeter buyers as usual should be lined up and beaten with a rubber hose!
