I have the MX 900. It won't operate a Cambridge Audio CD player even though the code is in the database. I tried a number of the codes but no joy. Is my only option the learning function.
Thanks

yes, or searching for someone who has already learned that code set on a site like this in the code section.

Unplug the power cable on the CD player wiat 10-20 minutes then retry. I had this problem with a JVC VCR and it worked when I pluged it back in.

The problem is my remote won't learn any commands, not one. I have a Denon AVR3805, plugged the code in and fantastic, worked instantly. Tried the same with my cd player and then dvd player (not denon) and no joy. I then tried to teach the commands and I can't get the mx to learn a single function. I get the 'good' during the learning phase but then nothing happens when I try the remote on my system.
I'll try what rdr202 suggested for my cd player, other than that I may have to join the ranks of the URC haters.
BTW I tried all the learning tips, batteries, short press; no joy.
Any ideas warmly and happily welcomed.
Maybe it's because I'm in Australia, lol

you have to redownload what you learned before it will use those codes in the remote

I'm not that much of a newbie. I did do that, still nothing. I even downloaded a file from RW from another user that matched my dvd player and that wouldn't work.

Just asking if you saved the learned command before going to the next command. If you are picking out the individual buttons on the remote to learn then you must save the command befor going to the next one. What happens when you test the learned command?

For some commands you may have to increase the number of repeats to lengthen the burst. JVCs are like this.

I save each command as I go, the program prompts for that so it's easy to remember. I am unable to test the learned command while the remote is attached to the computer, as the computer is not in the same room as the units I wish to control.
I've now tried my TV as well and no go, I figure I must be doing something wrong since I can't get the unit to learn a single command.
Thanks

DP,

When you are in the IR database are you using CD-268?. This appears to be the only codes for Cambridge CDs.

Also, are you using IR or RF? Make sure that you have not turned on or off the type that you need to control the CD.

Maybe trying to clear the remote and starting again.

DP,

Here is another suggestion when you are in the main screen that shows the MX900 and all the buttons. Select first your Cd device. Is there a little red dot on the top right edge of the buttons such as "play" and stop"? This indicates that the buttons contain an ir code. Next put your mouse on the button. Does it identify the button and below it has a "P". This indicates that it has a "preprogrammed " code. If you have learned a code to that button it will also have an "L" on the button. Do you see a blue "L" on your buttons?

I bet the jvc oem remote didn't after that.
