One big sore spot for me was the poor battery life on
the MX-900.

What are you doing with this remote? I use the DVR trickplay features on a daily basis as much or more than anyone and I have batteries last 3-4 months.

I have the same experience with my MX-900. I am using NiMH batteries, with the lower voltage, and I get a good 3 months out of them, and I am a huge Skip +, Skip - user. Plus, lots of VOL up and down use, which uses up batteries.

And I am in and out of the DVR Menus a lot, so the remote does get a fair amount of use.

In fairness, though, I rarely use the backlight feature. This is a real batter drainer if you have the backlight on regularly.

In my experience, some remotes of the same line just seem to get poor battery life. It might be because of something not quite right in a component of the remote in a certain production run, or just in a few remotes that come off the line, or just plain bad luck.

I think that most people are getting decent battery life from their 900s.

I get about 5 months out of my MX-850 with alkalines. I use the backlight very little, and the on time is set for 2 seconds (enough time to press the next button and keep it on).

I'm not a huge DVR/menu user, so that may help. I also have all IR output from the remote turned off, only RF is on.
