I have an MRF-250 in my living room. It has been working reliably for a long time, but it just started acting flaky. I checked to see if there is any RF interference, and indeed, there is some. I added a new Series 3 Tivo to the mix recently, and this is obviously the culprit. Since I happen to have an extra MRF-350 sitting around, I wanted to switch base stations. I'm just hoping that I can avoid running six new IR emitters (some of the equipment is quite difficult to access). Other than the plug size, I assume the emitters that come with the MRF-250 are pretty much the same as the ones that come with the MRF-350. Do they make some sort of 2.5mm -> 3.5mm adapter?

yes you can get the adapters at any radio shack. Or you can try to wrap the extra cord from the emiter in a ferocret maginet to help with the RF interference.

How long have you had the mrf250?
I'd call URC and explain it is defective and does not do what it is advertised to.

Wrapping devices in foil and using ferrites and positiioning emitters through holes in electrical tape is over the top.

I've had my MRF-250 for close to two years, and this is the first problem I've had with it. I don't see how someone in my situation could possibly be mad at URC. The product has served me well up to this point. It's not URC's fault that my Tivo generates stray RF, and I don't recall URC ever claiming that their products were immune to such interference.

I agree. That's precisely why URC went to narrow band with the newer models. Now that the 350 is out, it makes absolutely no sense to buy a 250 (assuming you have a compatible remote). Nevertheless, I still think the 250 was a great product back in the day. It wasn't without its flaws, but it worked quite well and was reasonably priced.

The MRF-250 barely ever works. Don't count on it.

I managed one using ferrite cores and resistors on emitter wires once. Not fun though.
