Installing my first MX900 (have installed plenty of MX850, TX1000, MX3000).
Using a JVC 32" LCD HDTV (model number as far as I can tell is LC-32748 although I can't seem to match that number up to any product on the JVC website.

The problem I am having can be summed up as this:

If I create a macro on the main page (ie "Watch TV") and assign the macro a single command -- Discrete Power ON for the JVC TV, the TV turns on flawlessly everytime.

HOWEVER,

As soon as I add additional commands to the macro, the TV Power On part of the macro stops working.

I am trying to figure out if this is a problem with 1) the MX900, or 2) the JVC TV or 3) both devices. Any thoughts??

Some additional background:
It took me about 45 minutes of troubleshooting to narrow down the problem as I described it above. Odd as it may seem, the discrete Power On code for the JVC TV works fine when used individually, but does NOT work when it is part of a multi-step macro.

I have installed plenty of URC remotes, and I understand how to troubleshoot general IR and RF interference problems. That's not what is happening here. I am using the remote line of sight, and it doesn't matter if I am 8-inches or 8-feet away from the tv. The behavior is the same -- and the problem is consistent and repeatable.

I am up to date on the MX900 editor software (editor version 1.10.108, FW 1.50, IR DB 1.81).

I will be out at the client site again this week with a different remote (probably an MX850 I have on hand) to try and figure out if the remote is somehow causing the problem.

Just wanted to see if anyone has seen anything like this before, or had any thoughts on what might be happening.

Are there any ir codes placed on the button you have placed your macro on? Sometimes people will accidentily place their macro on top of an existing button and then you will get issues with your codes. IF that is the case (I really have no idea if this is your problem or not, but lets just say that it is), press the button once in the mx900 editor, and click on the X above where it says Button Name on the top, right hand side of the editor. In the pop up box, check ir code and leave any other check boxes blank. Worth a shot.

I had this problem with a JVC once befor. Had to import the code from a Pronto CCF to the URC 700. I think there was a problem with the code not being extended. I will search my posts for the codes that I used.

Pepper, check your email...I have sent you some JVC codes. The codes may not be necessary if you increase the number of repeats of the codes in the IR navigator for the MX-900.

Let me know if this works,

Dave T.

I've had the exact problem with the rear projection DLP JCV TV's. I just gave up trying to fix it, and just put a TV power button on the main page.

Pepper,

I resent the codes to your new email address. They are in ccf format.

You may try to increase the number of repeats in the Custom IR navigator, but if not the codes that were sent to me did the trick for me.

Let me know if it works,

Dave T.

Dave,

Thanks again for sending the codes. I used the learned Power-On discrete from the first file you sent me and that did the trick. My macros that need to Power-On the TV work reliably now.

Something else I learned about this TV today -- if the TV picks up an IR signal intended for another piece of equipment, then the TV won't respond to any additional IR commands for several seconds.......it's like the IR freezes up. I had to reorder the steps in one of my macros to make sure that all the JVC TV commands (power on, input select) were executed before any other piece of equipment. (thinking about it now, I guess I could have alternatively set the other equipment to "RF Only", since the TV is the only piece of equipment that needs to be controlled by line of sight.)

Anyway......the equipment is now working properly with the MX900.

Thanks again for your help!
