I know this thread has come and gone. I have read numerous threads. I still don't know if it is possible to get live updates or not buy purchasing a URC Remote from a non AD.

I like what I have read about what the MX-900. I was going to purchase one off E-Bay. I don't want to buy it if I can't keep it updated.

Can anyone confirm or deny for me please on the myth of Live Updates.

Isn't your time worth just buying it from someone authorized and forgetting the hassle?

Don't assume that all AD's will give you the updateable software because some won't. I would recommend either Pro Remotes or Surf Remote Control. I have personally purchased from Pro Remotes and was very happy with my experience. Although I have no personal experience with Surf Remote Control I have heard good things about them.
As far as EBay is concerned, some of the sellers send the updateable software. I would be concerned that URC might make another "change" and render this software non-updateable. Additionally a remote purchased from EBay will not have a warranty.
Contact one of the AD's mentioned above and you may be surprised by the pricing.
