To all dealers that have access to the URC Control Room, the MX-810 software is now available for download. Check it out.

Here are some screenshots.
Call me old-school but I like the other programming style better.
I've never had the misfortune of having to program a Harmony
but this is how I imagine it would be.

For anybody used to the URC software this is totally not for you. It's a cute toy at the most. I tested it and was not impressed, give me an MX-3000 any day.

Yuck...looks like terrible programming.

I just downloaded the editor to check it out.

In about five minutes I set-up a simple tv,cable, audio, dvd,& media center.
I have no idea if it worked (lacking a remote to test)or what kind of control you will have of any device(surr modes, etc) but it sure was FAST!

I would be hesitant to call it 'programing' at all!

Unless I missed something, it lacks the ability to get creative or do anything 'truly custom'.

I guess that is what we have the 850/900/950/3000 for.

It will likely be a fantastick remote for simple minded folks, much like the Harmony clientelle, that are looking for a fast, simple solution to eliminate the confusion of a table full of remotes.

I feel that anyone that is competent with the previous editors may feel a little restricted or short changed.
Those that are scratching their head and muttering expletives, this is the remote for you.

Keep in mind that my opinion is souly based on a few minutes with the 810 editor sans remote.
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

Heck,
I thought it was pretty nice and much better than I was expecting. (I had the bar set pretty low, about harmony high. . .)

I wish you could walk thru the wizard then flip to the conventional programming method for tweaks (Like you do to load triggers for the MSC 400).

It's a HUGE step up for installers who need to program but couldn't get their heads around the normal editor.

I've seen a couple of issues so far, any idea who is heading up the bug hunt at URC?
I hate to just start spamming Jeff and Glenn with bug reports.

You could post them here. Some may already be known from beta testing.

For those wondering about macros other than "activities", they can be done via the Universal Browser (which has some different features in this software).

Actually, this is not a good forum for bug reports, since it's not run by URC. Some of us visit here, but there's no way for us to aggregate the information thate gets posted here. You might instead start a thread on the URC Control Room Installer Forum. :)

I installed the software and gave it a spin. I have to say, I'm very impressed. I configured a four device system in five minutes. Ten more minutes and I had the primary macros in there. The software is fast, intuitive, and attractive.

I'd like to see the software extended to cover all the remotes in the pro line. That way, it is quick and easy to set up a system, then go into the standard editor for any little tweaks that are required.

Kind of reminds me of the early days of Wizard programming. At first it was a novelty, but after a while it became the standard way of setting things up, at least initially. Like a table in Microsoft Word, for example, or a Powerpoint flowchart. Use the Wizard to set it up 90-95% of the way, then the standard interface for the remaining 10-5%.

Good point. At this time, the Control Room forum's a better way to go.

I think I am the only one who has commented on the softwarere giving it a thumbs down and considering this "professional" remote overpriced and continuing to hurt the custom dealers out there. Upon which I got numerous emails calling me a liar and that I must be breaking some NDA on the Beta.

Unlike some, I am not Sound and Vision. Doing my best to give the first meaningless positive review on everything, kind of like the award it won already.

I want you guys to remember Pilgrim's "5 minutes" comment. Reminds me of the guys who claim they can install and load up a Harmony in 10 minutes, but in the spirit of oneupsmanship I can do it in 3 minutes for some setups.

I agree with Pilgram and others,

I was not expecting much so that is why my initial favorable impression. Not having the remote it is not possible to complete review of how well it works on the systems that I install.

One feature my customers will like is the color icons for the favorite channels. Seemed very easy to set up and to program.

I will try it on simple systems that I sell first and later see how well it works on more complex systems.
