So you want to use the Bose Lifestyle remote to control a dock?
I don't believe it can learn, but I may be mistaken. I believe you have to work with the pre-programmed devices already in their remote. I guess it depends on which Lifestyle system you have and if it has iPod dock codes.

You can get a universal remote that will control your Bose, and most likely any iPod dock on the market (and TV, lights, media server, sat/cable).
