I've completed my A/V whole house distribution project and now want to add lighting. Is X-10 still viable or are one of the newer propriatery standards the way to go? I'm not big on proprietary anything, but there seem to be some nice integration packages out there.

It is a pretty expensive conversion, so I would like to get started on the right foot.

Thoughts?

I have been using X10 for the last 15 years, and it is working for me, but I had to work out problems with line noise and split phase wiring in my house.  Smarthome has come our wth Insteon which is much more reliable and has less problems then X10, but it would coust me over $1000 or more to convert my existing X10 system.
