I've been quite disappointed by a lot of things that he has and hasn't done. But then I keep reminding myself what the alternative might have been.

I just read a book review the other day in the NY Times Book Review section about the 2008 campaign. The two authors mentioned the famous meeting that McCain called for - the "bipartisan" meeting about the economy with himself, Obama, Bush et al. (This was the meeting that the cameras showed McCain sitting at the end of the table not saying a thing.) Apparently, just before walking into the room, McCain grabbed an assistant and asked him "Now what do I need to know about this meeting?"
