My first question is: Are all OneForAll remotes considered JP1? EDIT: AFTER READING MORE, I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THE ANSWER IS NO - Not all One For All remotes are Jp1/.2/.3.

It looks like the cheapest JP1 or JP1.3 remote would be around 10-15 dollars? Then the cable...

As far as being certain about the LIRC file, I have no clue about it. I am only relying on what you have told me so I guess I trust it =) But, like you said, the cable seems like a good investment.

I am trying to read up on this stuff and haven't found a solid FAQ.

Is JP1.3 just a newer version of JP1, right? What is exactly the difference and are people trying to get rid of JP1s for specific reasons (becoming obselete?)
