Tracking power states would be nice - and I believe some remotes that support programming would allow me to simulate this, like the Harmony series do. I do not need any professional grade equipment that actually monitors power states - the tricks used by Harmony/macros/variables are good enough.
I'll spend up to $500 on a good remote.
PC programming would be important if it's required in order to track power states.
