An AC instead of DC wall-wart will disapate the power more quickly and help (help, not solve) that problem.

I'd probably just give them a "power" button, though...  I'm always worried that a software/firmware update will default the switched power outlet back to "always on".  Can't say I've ever heard of that actually happening to anyone, but it seems like a possibilty to think about.
